A couple Schwinn Varsity questions if I may
I'm thinking of getting an old Varsity frame to build a dedicated winter bike, and of course for N+1. I'm just curious about a couple things:
1. What's a Varsity frame actually weigh? This will not deter me, but I'm just curious.
2. Anybody have an idea the fork and dropout clearance for 700 x 40 snow tires?

A 22" size Varsity bare frame weighs 7.5lbs. The 24" and 26" frames are 8.2 and 8.9lbs respectively. The forged steel fork used with the 22" frame weighs 2.8lbs, those for the larger frames would be slightly heavier but I don't have any measurements for those.

Thanks. It's a 22" frame that I'm considering. I've already got a set of wheels looking for a good home, and would plan on setting it up as a single speed coaster with the smaller ring in front, and upright bars.

Not racing.
If you get a Suburban you'll have the upright bars already and a nicer fork. I wouldn't expect problems fitting 700x40 on it.
