Here's my 2002, pushing the edge of vintage, but it is my oldest "new" bike, or is it my newest "old" bike? My steel Bianchi got killed by a car. I survived, but needed a new bike quickly, and grabbed this one as a closeout at Performance for $399. I changed the fork to an Easton carbon, and upgraded the brakes to 105s. Its a fun little bike, handles well, very responsive, stiff frame, little rough on bad roads. Also a couple others I spotted on an Eroica ride.

My 2002, I love the paint, it has held up well, except Ultegra replaced the broken Sora FD, and Claris brifters replaced broken Soras. Fun bike. I also changed the stem to a longer ITM, and it now has an Ergon saddle.

Saw this older one at Eroica 2018.

Not mine, but another Eroica Allez . I like the paint combination with the polished lugs, never seen another like it.

I have an older Specialized Allez Sport and I'm not sure how old it is. Anyone know how to determine the age? It has integrated Brake/Shifters so I'm guessing 1997 or 98. Thanks

Like a signature or something like what some of the Waterford Paramounts had? The only thing I "think" I've ever seen on them is "Direct Drive" and that was on the later models with a uni-crown fork. But I'm not even sure about that.

There are a number of picks here, one of them is a good shot of the Jim Merz chainstay sticker.

Yep, Jim's sig on the Blue SE's.

I've got 2 of those.

The one I'm looking for is white and says "Designed by Jim Merz" on some of the Red Allez's.

Like this, but Jim Merz and in white.

Guess I've got what I need to have them made, which I was probably going to have to do anyway.

Designed on a SUN System, and built in Taiwan. At least Taiwan is still in business.
Almost got one like that in blue in late 1999 but went with a Cannondale R800 instead and rode it a ton for about a decade before realizing that A) 54 cm was too small and B) on my local deteriorating roads Aluminum was not the way to go.

I stumbled across my second 85 Allez the other day. Broke "shelter in place" for this score.
it's a 58cm that fits me better.

As found, an Allez A1 Sport, original down to the Specialized tires, replaced 116 miles later with Continental gatorhardshells...misadjustment of the fd kept the original owner from riding for many years... $10.00...

AN ‘85 I think, bought as a frame and built up with my parts, many of which are original equipment. Really like the dynamics of this bike...

Not quite what others are showing here but ............. I got this about 6mo ago for a beater I could take anywhere and not worry about losing. It's a 2006 last year of the Elite with the zoot frame and 3x9 I believe. To date I have less than $300 in it. And as much as I love my Italian steel I have to admit that this Specialized is actually one fine handling bike and I'm not em-bare-assed to be seen riding it

Good Evening, this is my first post. I will add pictures to this after I have 10 posts.

I have a 1987 Team Allez, which I have owned since 1987 or 1988. I am the original owner.

I have the original DuraAce hubs and Mavic rims. The bike in the catalog has a fluted seat post; mine is aero. The "S" on the seat stay and fork crown are not painted red, as on the bike in the catalog. My nephew, to whom I loaned the bike for a few years, decided to change a few things; hubs, rims, saddle and cassette. Grrrr.......

There are but 3 colors in the top tube splashes, as in the catalog. All others I have seen online have 4, and the sequence is reversed.

Serial no. 001!!!
