Bianchi questions
So I grabbed this bike....
For the BELT saddle, which I'll install elsewhere...
It's an odd one to me as I assume it's Japanese made, but it's built with Columbus tubing. The BELT could be a replacement someone put on and not factory.
Seat tube sticker
Fork sticker - one on each side
Serial number is LS321511. PO threw out the small chain ring as it was a triple, and the FD is a 300EX so doubting that's period correct.
Saddle is just a spare I had
Tiagra replacement RD

obvious respray -
no manufacturer is going to paint over a fork crown cap
also note the amount of rust on the details of the brake caliper vs the condition of the paint finish...

Hello, this seems to be a repaint and the decals are definitely not original to the bike, these are repros largely based on the ones used on 80's racing bikes and the signature should be at the back side of the top tube. It does not resemble the Bianchis known to me, but it doesn't mean anything as I don't really know the Japanese models. Is it possible, that the fork crown's top part is the ususal removable chrome cap, and it also became painted? For the serial number, you can visit the https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...ber-guide.html maybe T-Mar already wrote something there, but be prepared you might find out it might not be a Bianchi.

noticed this as well...and wondered
flat surface of fork crown cap is not parallel to bottom edge of lower head race
wondered also about seating of fork crown race
its looking like WGB hath taken in something of a...

Im unfamiliar with the Bianchi brand so if it's wrong it's my bad. I wondered why the serial number wasn't lining up with the thread by @T-Mar...
It was $120 Canadian so not much of a loss. I believe the cup isn't seated correctly. I'll take it to a frame builder near here for a review. If he has concerns, I'll strip it for the parts.

I'm guessing mine is a "Standard model".
I like the look of those pillars, the model 1, 2 and the Hupel look very good.
@juvela I'm thinking that you must have stacks of old catalogues under your bed!

The serial number number format follows that used by Bianchi's Japanese source and indicates December 1983 manufacture, so it should be a 1984, Japanese manufactured model. Consequently, the Columbus decals are highly suspect. The post looks significantly smaller than the 27.0/27.2mm used by Columbus SP/SL. Also, the presence of dropout eyelets places in in the lower end of the range. I'm leaning towards an entry level Bici I or Bici II, assuming that it's from the Canadian side of the border. The post diameter may provide a clue as to the actual model.
