I recently made a hybrid 3x7 speed into a rear hub drive ebike, 500W Bafang w/48V battery. I only use the largest, 48t chainring, and gears 3-6 on the 11-34 cassette. Point being, with a motor you don't need a lot of gears; you won't use them unless your battery dies.

I deleted a post where the OP answered in a rude way. He decided not to modify his bike to an ebike

You will be happier with a dedicated e-bike built to be an e-bike.

Also to those who claim not to need gears, USE YOUR DANG GEARS PEOPLE. Wearing out a cassette prematurely and using more battery than needed because you don't believe you need to shift is silly. I shift all the time on my bike and I have 14 gears (that is 1x14 just FYI) I wouldn't want to just have a single speed, I have non-electric single speeds and fixed gear for that purpose.
