Love this photo. A steelworker!

My 29 year old step-daughter works night shifts at US Steel Tubular Products on the northeast side of Houston, Texas. They never stopped working during the pandemic, but the rumor is that layoffs are coming this summer.

You can't say every Harley you see on a trailer is going to the shop though, many are being trailered by people "living the biker lifestyle" on their way to be riding double digit miles before being trailered home.
Let's see some pics of your bikes and the places you've gone/traveled to. You sound like you have a lot of experience under your belt.

I rode for 20 years and about 100,000 miles, but quit riding when digital cameras were being offered on phones. But I can tell you one of my experiences that involves a couple of rare nongeriatric Harley owners.
I was riding back to Chicago from north east Iowa when I saw a Harley with a flat tire by the side of the road. Being the gent he was, the guy had sent his girlfriend to the next exit (about a mile away) to get help when I pulled over and was surprised when I told him I had a flat repair kit on my bike. He was also surprised I was going to ride all the way back to Chicago in one day too. Before we could start to use the tire kit another Harley owner stopped by pulling an empty trailer, saying he'd just dropped his bike off to get It ready for the season. I don't remember exactly when this was, but I do remember it was hot enough to melt the ice keeping the last few beers in the guy's saddlebags cold and that I'd been riding for a good month by then. We got his tire inflated enough for him to take off, the guy with the empty trailer left and I picked up the discarded CO2 cartridges they left by the road and rode home. In one day.

It was good of you to stop and help a fellow rider. Iowa to Chicago in one day and 5K miles per year. You learned a lot in that time I'll bet.

Atlantic Ocean to Pacific Ocean in less than 45 hours. Total trip miles are just north of one of those years you were riding; in less than two weeks.

My neighbour just came home with this:

It started life as a 1992 soft tail, but I think the only thing left that is original now is the engine block!

I did ask and he said it actually wasn't too bad. Frame designed by a company that actually knew what it was doing.

He also said it was very nice at speed.

"at speed"

Meaning highway speeds? Obviously a lot of work put into and it looks good.

Not my bag though.

I got out on the trails on my beta xtrainer today. Unfortunately the battery died and there's no kickstarter. After that I borrowed someone else's sherco trials bike and, man, I am worn out after riding it. Not being accustomed to the position on the bike and then it not having a seat was tough on me. I might be riding my bicycle a little slow tomorrow (well, even slower than usual).

07 R1200RT. I sold my 09 Ducati Multistrada 1100S in the Fall, in anticipation of getting a bike which would be more comfortable for Mrs-ish. mconlonx this Spring. It was either this, or a Gold Wing, ST1100/1300, or something else sport/tour with more emphasis on tour. Already been riding it on my 45mi commute, and have a longer ride coming up July 4. Very suitable for light touring and the occasional endurance ride.

Heavier bike than I'm used to, but no complaints. Power and brakes are more than adequate. Handling is better than anticipated. Ergonomics and amenities are top-notch. Passenger accommodation is superlative -- not pictured is the stock top-box with backrest. Heated seats front and rear, along with heated grips should suit New England early Spring and late Fall weather. Couple power outlets, too.

Only downside is it feels like buying my first minivan -- It's official, I'm old. Oh, well. Good thing I still have the 88 Honda Hawk NT650 GT for sporty fun...

I traded my 2008 Streetglide in when the 2009's came out. Enjoyed it with the wife for 8yrs.
When she decided she no longer wanted to ride with me I traded the Streetglide for a VROD Nightrod Special. Two different animals. One built for long hauls.....the other for bombing around.

The traditional Harley owners hated the idea of a liquid-cooled engine. It had to be air-cooled or it wasn't a real Harley.
Now almost all of the big HD Cruisers are liquid-cooled and many or the die-hards are raving about their efficiency and performance.
The Streetglide is a great bike but the VROD is the best Harley I've owned.......
