Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

There are no prizes for imaginative music. It is not a category on any list. On the other hand, Carlos Santana, 40 years or so after Woodstock, is still going strong.

And I was never the biggest fan of death metal when I was younger, but some of the things coming out of eastern Europe lately are mind-blowing. Especially Mgla's "Exercises in Futility" and the last two Behemoth albums.
The closest I get to death metal is Amon Amarth and In Flames. Beyond that, it’s mostly progressive metal like Between the Buried and Me etc. If you’ve never heard their album Colors, check it out, it was recorded end to end in one shot. I’ve seen them do it live and it’s incredible. I think Paul Waggoner is one of the most skilled guitar leads out there and he proves it on that album.

I finally sat down to try to replace the bearings on the rear Assault. I'm stumped as to how to remove the old bearings, but closer inspection reveals that it's temporarily moot - the service tech at Reynolds/Hayes told me to buy the wrong bearings, so I don't have the correct ones on hand.

I got really into extreme metal fairly young in youthful rebellion of only being able to buy CDs from our church bookstore.

I guess my parents thought it was safe, but they carried compilation albums from Solid State Records which had bands like Extol, Norma Jean, and Zao

Colors is a definite favorite of mine

You can't beat a marching band halftime show from a well trained school. Personally, I love the drumlines best.

Measure the thighs of your patients who are about to die. Publish your findings.

Well, considering that my 128# wife's thighs measure 19", you might want to make arrangements.

Then, again, she's a serious cyclist.
