Im looking for proper tire size and I preferably want a white or yellow tire.

What size are the stock wheels?

If they are 27" or 630 BSD wheels, you might have trouble finding the colors you want. If they are 700C or 622 BSD then Vittoria tire tends to make a lot of colorful tires. I'm sure some others do too, but don't know.

I usually start my search for tires on the websites of the manufacturers that make them.

They say 27 x 1/4 on the current vintage tires .

I was looking at continental gatorskin 27 x1.25

Will those work?

these are not white but they do have nice yellow badging I like.

Well if your previous tires were 27 x 1-1/4, then they will be 630 BSD. And that should be the BSD for the rim too.

Continental does still make some tires in a 27" size which is the 630 BSD. And I think they make a Gatorskin in 27 x 1-1/4. But if the tire you are looking at says 27 x 1.25, then that might be something else. Decimals and fractional sizes usually matter on a tire.

Best to know and use the ISO/ETRTO sizing for tires. Then you'll be more likely to never mess up when buying a tire for your bikes. Most every tire made has that stamped or embossed on them. Sometimes in the extremely tiny and almost unreadable print.

By "yellow" I'm assuming that you mean "tan"?

A popular budget option 27 x 1 1/4 is the Kenda K35 with tan walls. They're pretty similar to the sorts of tires that would have come on a Nomade originally, and they look very appropriate on most bikes of that era, but they're fairly heavy and not especially supple.

The best-riding 27" tanwalls that are widely available these days might be Panaracer Paselas. They come in a basic version with a yellow-and-red label, and a "PT" version with a blue-and-white label. The "PT" version has an added puncture-protection belt, but consequentially isn't quite as supple as the basic version.

Either the Gatorskins or the Paselas would be fine. Tan wall Paselas look good on a vintage bike, IMO.

No I mean solid school bus yellow to match my yellow bike frame. Or solid white .

Not gum shoe or tan walls.

I might just buy paceras if I can't find anything else.

No, there wouldn't be. 27" wheels stopped being used for new bikes around 1990, so there just aren't that many 27" tires being sold anymore. It's not worth it to manufacturers to maintain a large number of permutations for things like color selection. There was a period a few years ago when vibrantly-colored tire sidewalls were in vogue on road bikes, but even then, 27" tires were largely excluded from the fun.

No yellow or white tires available, consider yourself saved from an unfortunate choice. Unless maybe you were donning your clown wig and riding in a parade....

Hahahaha. Ouch. Those spirit III tires with the nice yellow lip would look great on 1979 canary yellow motobecane nomade imo

Vibrantly-colored tires are often misused, but there are a variety of situations in which they can look nice. Yellow tires were a key feature of the gorgeous yellow-highlight Bianchis that Marco Pantani rode, for instance.

Matching the tire color to a frame's primary color like the OP is suggesting is always a risky proposition and usually goes poorly, but since the yellow Nomades tended to have black trim which would match the tire tread of something like an Ultra Sport III, I think that it could maybe work if the saddle and bar tape were also part of the scheme. It would be a very loud look, but not necessarily bad.

I'm not sure how the OP would intend to handle the color-matching with white tires, though.

I like the Pasela Panaracer tires . They are available in 27” in 1”,1 1/8”, 1 1/4” . They have a classic look that goes well on vintage road bikes and much better quality than Kenda for just a little more money. I only ride vintage steel road bikes and I like gum wall tires on a lot of my bikes.
