Exercise bike recommendation

Hey there, I want to purchase an exercise bike for my ankle’s pain. But I’m little confused that what is the right product for me.
Is there anyone who has one at home that they could recommend; I can spend Up to $400.
Any kind of help would be grateful.

I don't have a lot of experience with stationary bikes. A few years ago, I bought a used Kinetic fluid trainer off of Craigs list and use it with one of my road bikes. The back wheel of the bicycle attaches to the device and it simulates resistance as if you were riding outdoors. That works great if you already have a bicycle you can use with it.

Hello Kinetic fluid trainer, thanks for the response. The kinetic fluid trainer is really good. I read some reviews and want to buy this product. Can you tell me how much its cost and how to setup this with my cycle?

I think a new Kinetic trainer costs around $350 in the United States. I paid $200 for a used one. I recommend putting it in front of a TV. Here is a Youtube video on how to set it up.

You can if you look for a used one on Craigslist. The link below is for Miami. I would suggest that you take your address out your profile. Maybe just list your city or state for privacy reasons.

I just inherited a Kinetic Green Machine fluid trainer from a buddy who upgraded. My cost was $97.00. He had used it maybe 20-25 times over three years. It is much nicer than my old magnetic trainer; smoother and quieter.

Hello skycomag, I like your suggested bike. Its price is affordable for me. And I hope it’s a long-lasting product. Thank you so much for giving me your suggestion. And I think I should purchase Schwinn 170 Upright Bike.

I think your going to like it. I put over 3000mi in the 21/2 yrs since I got it.
I use it only in the winter to keep my legs in shape.
your going to like the magnetic system totally quite.
you can sleep in the same and not be disturbed.
no noisy chains.
I put mine together myself. not to hard, but it looks like they're giving free assembly?
I hope you enjoy it. like it.

I bought a Nordic 7 exercise bike a year ago used it on and off for a few weeks then three months ago made up my mind to start using it regular.

Since the begining of August I have done 30min everyday on it and difference in the way I feel is remarkable.

I have lost over a stone in weight and have had to put three extra holes in my belt.

(If I miss a day for whatever reason I double up the next day.)

It cost around £500. It has a 20 Kilo flywheel and you can adjust the drag.

Best Buy I have made in a long time.

( I may add that I am in my late eighties )

I have used many trainers down they the years.
rollers and wheel on turbo’s for a long time then worked my way thru smart trainers. At the 400 dollar price range you are dealing with tech from back in the 90’s. The problem with dumb trainers is they require a lot of metal discipline. To get a good effort out of it. They tend to not be used regularly enough. When you step up to smart trainers you get more interaction and it keeps you interested in riding longer. Because the resistance is controlled by the computer program. It feels more riding outside. As you are not in control of the resistance like you are with a dumb trainer.
if you plan on doing indoor training on a regular basis. Get a smart trainer. You will get a lot more use out of it. I ride 2000 miles indoors every year.

Although Ed’s comment is completely true, such a device is way above your $400 budget.

I’d stick with the basic versions within budget. There is always time to go more expensive after you determine it’s long term use.

Of course, we all realize we're responding to an OP posted in 2017 ---- but having said that, if someone has an injury that would temporarily place you on a stationary bike, it might be an idea to invest in a $10-per-month membership at Planet Fitness and use their equipment. Saves some $$$$
