Need a word...

...for the joy of finding your lost cell phone.

Twice, yesterday, my wife misplaced her phone... both times due to distraction. She left at the gallery, and had to go back to retrieve it, and it was right there. She was filled with joy.

So there IS a word for the anxiety of losing the phone..."nomophobia." But for the joy of recovery?

Well forgetting it and leaving the house without it feels that way when you realize you don't have it.

Inanimate objects are incapable of being either good or evil. Just turn off the ringer, leave it on the countertop, and go about your day. Check for voice mails, texts, etc., a couple times a day. It's not hard. Turn off the phone when you go to bed, and turn it on when you have lunch.

I keep the phone in my bike bag in the garage so I never hear it.

My wife left her iPhone in the shopping cart at the supermarket parking lot. We went back 20 minutes later, “Find My iPhone” showed its exact position, still in the cart in the middle of the lot.

"Lucky."

That is, if you left your phone in a public place and it was still there when you got back.

(Did that once at the grocery store. My shopping list is on my phone. I got sick of taking it in and out of my pocket as I consulted my list, and the carts at that store have a very small tray on the cart handle that is just the right size to put a phone in. Black phone, black cart... you can guess what happened. I got back out to the car and realized. Ran back to the store... knew someone would have already taken the cart. I literally walked around the entire store looking at every cart I passed... finally saw it, thank heaven. The woman who now had the cart hadn't even noticed the phone there, either... Needless to say, I now deal with the hassle of moving phone in and out of pocket or of simply keeping it in my hand at all times.)

Stop at a travel center in Junction, Texas off I-10 and someone left their phone on the counter. So the clerk called someone on the contacts to call someone with them to tell them they left their phone behind. Contact was successful and they were about 20 miles away so I guess they went back to retrieve the phone.

The first cellphone I ever touched was in a restroom stall. I left it on the sink. The owner retrieved it while I was busy.
