Nice! I just was looking at one order from Germany and one from the UK that I placed for bike parts last month. For the German company, no updates since May 16. For the UK one, nothing since May 5. I think both are now in the hands of USPS, so anything is possible (perhaps even having my goods delivered--or not).

Funny - another timely thread. Pyrchased, through Ebay, on May 3. The shipper, in Hungary, shipped the envelope five days later. Contacted him or her last week and was told to be patient. Anyway, bought two of these for my Torpado and still waiting...

I really admire foreign postage stamps as well. And I agree that those from Eastern Europe are particularly cool. I regret not saving them from the time of my first overseas purchases. There’s been quite a few that have wound up in my mailbox. I think they’re make a really cool framed collection. I’m sure there’ll be more in the future though, so I’ll start that collection by saving these.

That sounds painful. I’m beginning to think that there is no real gauge here for estimating delivery times. I purchased a taillight from the UK recently, and it was in my mailbox 4 days later!

Funny. I also contacted the seller two days ago. Simply asked if he was aware of any major hold ups with outgoing international mail. Never heard back from him, but I did leave him positive feedback today.

I bought the decal for my Benotto project. It’s not a perfect match, but it’s the closest I could get. It seems no one is making a repro for this decal which seems to be from a transitional period. There are a few very subtle differences. If I was going for a legitimate restoration I’d have one made, but this’ll do for a frankenbuild.

I have not received the stickers yet. Five weeks, or close to it, but I am not too worried. I will wait two more weeks then take action. The thing that bugs me is the late shipping (waited five days just to ship an envelope).

As for "have we seen your Torpado yet?" - here ya go, an early sixties Torpado Professional...

A few years ago I got a stem/handlebar/brake lever/shifter setup from an Eastern European country- As I recall shipping time wasn't crazy, but it was packed decently with newspapers filling in the voids in packing. It was neat- and it just reminded me of some small Romanian apartment with 1930s wallpaper stained with pipe smoke...

I recently ordered an item domestically. Paid right away via paypal. After about a week, seller cancelled transaction claiming item was damaged in shipping. They refunded only base price, not tax. After a month, including calls to ebay, I received a partial tax refund! After another complaint, I finally got remainder of tax, total 5 weeks after initial payment. So be careful to verify refunds.
Anyway... why I tell that long story in this thread, immediately after cancellation I found same thing in England, about $2 cheaper including postage. Got here quite quickly, item was perfect.
I have also bought beautiful stem from Poland, no issues.

So, knowing that you have decals on the way, is that an indication that the bike is slated for a repaint?

That is certainly a possibility but, as some may know, I am not a fan of repainting a old bike. That said, those stickers came available a short while after I got the Torpado. The price was good enough for me to buy both - just in case. That said, I plan to ride the bike for a year or two, assuming that I have a year or two left, just to get to know the bike. I can repaint it any time. That said...

I am going to get rid of one thing on the bike and I hope to do so as soon as I can...

I find this cluster a bit of a challenge, these days. In fact, in all the years that I have been riding vintage road bikes, I would never have selected this freewheel gear set...
