Toss the original color.
I saw today a new Audi Q8 with a wild flamboyant coppertone gold color. I would do that.

No idea what caused the damage. It's about the width of a chain.

With regard to lettering, there's a site you can use that has a cornucopia of fonts, and also a vertical option for your seat tube.


Here is some more or less period correct lettering design I did for a repaint on an early 50's Follis. (Follis used Showcard as their font for a long time.)
