1979ish Fuji Gran Tourer

1979ish Fuji Gran Tourer. Original except missing rear wheel reflector and new tires/tubes. Only corrosion is on rear rim and seat rails as seen in photo. Still need to clean the frame and crankset. Suburbs of Philly. Whats she worth?

This is a big bike (25 inch?) which hurts the value. That said you live in a large market, the bike is exceptionally clean, and prices have gone up since Covid. It does have some rust issues.

Value $200-$250. This is a hi tensile steel frame, right?

Every market is obviously different. My city is a much smaller market (Des Moines).

I'm fixing up a late 70s Peugeot UO 10 which is very similar in quality to your Fuji (hi tensile steel frame, alloy components in good shape). I reckon it's worth right around $175 fixed up (and overhauled) and it's a better size than yours at 57 cm. Your Fuji has nicer derailleurs and you live in a larger market but the frame size is less desirable.

Steel rims, stem shifters, large size, rust here and there, steel seat post, nutted rear axle. Cleaned up and road ready its a $150-$175 bike around here (north NJ). As is, maybe $75.

Good catch. I thought this bike had alloy rims. Steel rims definitely knock the value down considerably.

I had a 23" 1979 Fuji Gran Tourer in black. I bought it new in 2008 (Yes, brand new) for $80. Rode it for a year and sold it for $120. I can actually buy back that very same bike for $100. Nice bike, but heavy. I'll pass.

The chrome steel wheels, stem shifters and, turkey wings are going to hurt value. Plus, the frame looks like it was made for Andre the giant. But, it's got very interesting bits. So, you could probably do better parting it out than selling it complete. It's worth somewhere between $150 and $250 depending on your market. Maybe $300 if you're lucky.

Considering the current the current great shape cleaned up serviced ready to ride $150. Yet if your up for it parted figure 75-100$ for the FUJI branded VX shift group rd fd and shifters $50 for the Sugino/Fuji fixed ring maxi crank with BB,25$ for the nice KKT pedlas, $30 for the nicer Su8ntour Freewheel with choice gears,$30 for the brakeset and $20 for the springer seat. Then you would still have the frame set Wheels to build up nice a cheapo SS/FG.

I'd be all over that and ride it as is (new tires of course). Very cool pics that bring back memories. A 77-79? Fuji Gran Tourer was my first real bike when I was a kid.

+1 with new tires brake pads and a tune and lube I would ride this bike as a regular basic rider pretty much as is.

$300 just isn't realistic. So many better bikes are out there than this one for that price.
