little paint bubbling .. ways to fix? dont bother? advice wanted
Hey all - got just a little paint bubble around the seatpost lug on a bike. Should I bother trying to fix it? Leave it alone? How would you repair? Thanks!

I would carefully scrape out (utility knife blade works well) the bubbled area, inspect for damage and treat with a rust remover on an artists brush. Then I would paint or lacquer the area with a matching colour.

That is rust. It will grow proportionately to the moisture exposure it receives. If the bike is in Tucson, growth will be minimal. If the bike is in the Keys, it will get out of hand.
To remove the rust, since it is so minimal, I would use an x-acto knife. Yes, it will remove the paint too.

If I really liked the bike I'd sand blast and powder coat it, otherwise nothing.

That’s a relatively easy nail polish color to source...scrape off, did in some evaporust for 8 hours, rinse dry and paint it.
i wouldn’t go crazy scraping too much off.
you could also do the clear nail polish thing and hope it doesn’t spread.

Is that a Konno Allez or something? Nice looking lug. Like others have said, take the paint off that spot and treat the rust, then spot paint or cover with clear polish to protect it. Also, closely inspect the frame for any other spots. I just had a very nice frame bead blasted that had suffered from previous owners ignoring the growing rust. Pitting in multiple spots — don’t let that happen to this one!

Dupli-color auto touch up paint comes in a bottle that has a fiberglass pinpoint tip for cleaning, smoothing and feathering chips and scratches that works great for lug lines and comes in several shades of red, should be able to get pretty close. I would buy the closest 2 and maybe mix and match to get there.
I always get it to room temperature and shake very well.
A bit spendy at $16-20 a pop but then you have auto quality paint.
