This is basically it for me. If I'm 100% honest, I don't do it for the aero gains, massages, road rash risk, etc. I do it because I think it looks boss on the bike!

Who needs to shave...
My first experience with hairless legs was in the 70's as a young 20 year old GI. I was ridding with some senior cyclists. They were old Italians, 50 or older, who had been part of the local "Liotto Cycling Group" but were no longer competing. Even at 20 it was hard for me to keep up with those guys. We had paused from a mid day ride on a mountain side north of Vicenza Italy. All the cyclists in the group were waiting for the down hill road to dry out little before proceeding. The wait was long as no one dared negotiate slick wet hairpin turns on a down run.
While we were waiting a few of the guys pulled out thier zippos and used the flame to burn off thier leg hairs. They were specific in the areas they burned the hair off. You could see old road burn scars in some of the areas. Mostly it was hips, knees, thighs, outer arms and such. It was odd as they continued to have normal length hair in other areas. They were amused at my startled observations.
So take it from the old guys. Clean skin on a wet, slick, downhill run, might be a good idea. And road burn is a bugger hair or no hair...

Same same on the daughter and in-laws. But I also lived in Texas for 18 months, inadvertently and unfortunately, but based on that experience I claim to be more Texan.

I was in the hospital back in January for an infection. I had pretty much the same experience. I can't remember why, but I actually had two sets of heart monitoring patches. Taking them off wasn't fun, but it included leaving them on until I came home and then using my beard trimmer without a guard to try to cut some of the hair and have a less painful removal process. Finally got all the pads off but the glue residue lasted for a few more days. I told the nurses that the next time I go to the hospital I'm shaving my chest first.

Actually, yes, I do "manscape". In fact, I pretty much go hairless from the chest down. Not all at once, mind you. It takes time so I'm on a rotation so that everything gets done at least once a month. But I epilate, not shave, so it doesn't grow back nearly as fast and the returning hairs are much thinner. I do use creams around the, um, sensitive areas. Nicked myself once and that's all it took to switch to hair removal cream.

The only time I had to shave my leg was in HS football. I sprained my ankle and had to have it taped up every day for about two weeks. Shaved from about mid-calf down on my right leg. It did make getting the tape off a lot less painful.

Gosh, I stand corrected. I would have never thought shaved legs could save so much time (in the wind tunnel). I can see that saving that much time or effort would really be worth it for some riders. It's not for me, but not going to disparage any one who does.
In my case, losing a few pounds and riding more is where I would focus my attention. Maybe be when I get there, shaving legs will be next.

Yeah, that was embarrassing. I assumed the LBS took care of that during the tuneup. Lesson learned.
