Mrs non-fixie decided on a short ride around the neighborhood on her Méral today, after a long day of WFH.
I trundled along on my Daccordi. I am beginning to like that bike. The Panaracer Race C Evo 4 tires seem to suit it well.
The Selle Italia Mitica I found at a sale a while back has finally found a bike to sit on. A bit gaudy, but I like how it feels.
The weather was cool and cloudy, actually nice for a ride:

The 2-piece rivets are interesting. I like the embossing on the top, too, but I can't figure out what the image is in the center. Not sure if I should be looking at it from the drive-side perspective (flipped on my computer) or from the front/rear?

Took a gritty route connecting some industrial and historic colonial NJ Delaware River towns, Burlington to Bordentown.
Found there is now a bike path making my return much less car-centric. Great way to go in the future.

Trail's grade crossing of the light-rail Riverline, which runs at least hourly, and quickly.

Thomas and I looped around the North half of Lake Washington yesterday. Had a dd sighting at the north end.
Side note: for as much time and money that went into this bridge project a few years ago, they could have incorporated the expansion joints better to accommodate bike riders. They're similar to a smallish speed bump...

I remember. I crossed it a few times just after they opened it up. It was worse for sure!
I'm real happy there's another way to get across the lake, but the engineers(or whoever designed it) could have come up with a better solution in the beginning.

Anyway, it looks good and feels like a quality item. It seems it is discontinued, as Selle Italia doesn't mention it on its website, and judging by the current sellers, they dumped the remaining stock.

Inspired by my fellow bike enthusiasts at the Olympics today, mrs non-fixie and I went for a pre-dinner ride. The weather was exceptionally nice for an evening ride.

A short local ride to get our fit sorted on the tandem. It's getting more difficult to make room for my stoker, since he's grown over seven inches in the last couple of years.

This first one is from yesterday. I spent most of the day working on an ongoing home project in the basement (lots of cutting, sanding, painting), so I didn't go for a proper ride, but I did take the Speedwell out to the local brewery when I was in need of a beer break. Gilman Brewery's Autoshop Double IPA is excellent if you can find it.
I had originally planned to do a 40ish-mile ride over the hills to the east ("the Bears ride" for the locals). However, I got to the top of the ridgeline and the air quality was worsening. Not wanting to breathe too much smokey air and feeling a bit tired and achy from yesterday's work, I cut the ride short and made a loop home an alternate way. 18 miles and almost 2,000' elevation gain on the LOOK, and just this one pic of a hazy view.

It was surprisingly warm for late winter so I took my most vintage bike for a ride. Rode out on a cycleway to Kaiapoi the next town over. It was a nice gentle and reasonably short ride.
This bike was built about the same time as the battle that this path is named for. The stem, handlebars and front brake are newer being from the 1930s

From a few days ago. Went riding out into farm country, out to Eagle Marsh on the Ankeny National Wildlife Refuge, back into Salem for refueling at the Governor's Cup, who have a Mondia and a Kenevans hanging on their wall. As I sat enjoying my coffee and bagel sandwich, I noticed I had a flat. At least I made it back into town! Used the bike tool stand at Waterfront Park to help get the job done.

It seems like nearly a month since my last ride. Maybe that's because my last ride was July 11. So today I got out early, left the house on the Masi at 7:30 to beat the predicted heat and humdidity. I squoze in 40.3 miles between when I left the house and when I arrived back home. Avg speed was 12.4 mph, which isn't much but better'n zero so it will have to do. It's a vintage rider on a vintage bike. Max speed was 28.6 mph, which surely happened when I was grinding up a hill. Had about 720ft of elevation gain and loss. According to my smarffone, which never lies or makes a mistake, actually I should say according to an app on my smarffone, I burned 1741.9 calories. I wonder if I could have squoze out 0.1 more calorie to give me 1742, a nice round and even even number. According to Fipbit which reads from this thingy on my wrist I burned only 1548. What does it know, yeesh! It also sez my max pulse rate was about 116, with a current resting rate of 62. Now that I can believe.
