Hmm. Need to read the book, I suppose. I don't doubt it was a riping adventure, but as cycletours go, looking at her map, it's more like an ocean cruise with a bicycle ride across France and from Boston (NYC?) to Chicago.

Hardly inspiring, maybe a little daring in those places. IMO.
Seems to be more Barnum and Bailey to her story than anything real.
Maybe 2,000 miles in those days was a bit challenging, if she went that far.

Interesting. I'm not sure that I understand her motivation, though, and I would really like to. It sounds like there is much uncertainty about any wager or prize money. It's fascinating that a young girl in her early 20s would come up with such an idea.
I reckon that I'll have to read the book, though it is not a first person account like that of Thomas Stevens, who made a round the world journey on a Columbia Ordinary a few years before.
