Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't remember (I'm old) if I posted this but a cycling friend who was fully vaccinated (Pfizers) tested positive a week ago. We had breakfast with him and that afternoon he became dizzy, coughing, bad headaches, etc and decided to go to prompt care. My wife and I feel fine so far.

What bothers me about the stores is that, stereotyping here, the people who refuse to get vaccinated are a lot of the same people who never wanted to wear a mask and I figure those same people are now shopping and/or in big crowds maskless.

I mean... yeah. I saw a maskless guy wearing a "Remember Benghazi" t-shirt over the weekend, and I'd be comfortable placing a wager on his vaccination status.

Thinking of heading over to the quad cities this weekend. I just thought I'd stick that in here for conversation.

Or me, depending on whose relatives we're talking about.

Is that like "the Tri-State Area"?

I think Volvo is now owned by a Chinese company.
I just drive old cars which were traded in to the dealers where I worked. At least for the last 25 years that's where I got cars for myself and the Mrs. Now that I've retired that may not be an option. Maybe my piece of crap Trailblazer will keep working for a while.

It is both. It's a testament to her endurance and mental fortitude, obviously. But it's also a huge financial expenditure and I think all those hundreds of hours training and riding mostly alone has an effect on one's personality.
My clubmate ( hard to call him a friend ) did RAAM 3 times. First time he DNF'd due to hyponatremia and being unprepared. 2nd time he finished and became the first over 60 finisher. 3rd time it was his easiest and he became the first finisher over 65.
He said it cost him about $30K each time although the third time he got some help like gas cards (big help) and clothing sponsorship. He also used a product called Spiz for on the bike feeds and I think they gave him a little money as well as free product.

If it's over a weekend, then he could. If it's a single destination, he can only go to one city, obviously.

See Dallas/Fort Worth. You go to Dallas, Fort Worth, or the Metroplex. You don't go to "the cities."

You can.

But, Dallas and Fort Worth are not twin cities. At best they are distant cousins.

You go to NYC, or you go to Brooklyn, Manhattan, etc. You don't go to "the boroughs."

Complete disclosure: I will probably only visit two of the Quad Cities, Moline and Rock Island, both on the east side of the big river.
