Ross MTB - $250 Folsom, CA

I'm looking for a vintage MTB and I can't tell if this is a good deal or not. I don't know much about bike value or classic models, but I've been reading this thread closely for a month. I see that the Ross chrome frames have a following and came across this one. It seems to be missing some stickers...

I see Suntour roller-cam brakes, which are highly sought-after. If those pedals are Suntour and not VP knock-offs, they're also prized.

Ross made great mountain bikes. If you are tall enough for it, buy it and ride it.

1983 Trek 600? Small, only $100 in Palm Desert, CA

Looks like a 1983 trek 600 to me, and in great shape too. Only $100. It is wayyyyy too small for me, and a bit too far due to quarantine.

Tall Simoncini with Columbus SPX here on local CL. No idea if $980 is a deal or not, but it doesn't seem that high. That seat has seen a few miles.

Pics don't show enough though from what I can only see, looks decent. Priced in line, given market but as things tighten up, maybe find one even lower. All relative and if one really wants a particular bike, consider condition and any additional expense, if needed.

I think they're neat old beast but odd at the same time. Its a slug performer though these chrome Ross mtb have appeal in the retro crowd.

BTW: I'm not fully up on them but have seen the chrome Ross mtb in either Ishiwata or Tange tubing. Chrome plating is not high quality, its not easy to find really clean condition frames, especially at the joints.

Not sure about the price, but this has been on sale for quite a bit. Simplex Criterium deraileur? (I think it's the one with the red plugs on the pivots)

Gitane Tour de France Road bicycle - $350 (Gig Harbor, WA)
https://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/b...099783793.html

Gitane Tour de France road bicycle. Vintage quality bicycle:

* Reynolds 531 tubing
* Stronglite crank
* Simplex derailleurs
* Newer tires and tubes - Armadillo All Condition tires.
* Campanella hubs.
* I believe it is a 61 cm frame size. The measurement from the center of the hub to the top of the seat post is 61cm. I am 6'2" and it fits well.
I bought this bike new in 1971. One owner bike.

Needs a bit of TLC, could use new brake and shift cables.

Scammers beware - scam alert active.

    Colnago Master Olympic Decor 63cm - $1800 (Cambridge)

    Gorgeous Colnago Master Olympic Decor, handmade in Italy, in amazing condition with very few miles. Famous Columbus Gilco crimped tubes covered in famously loud early-90s Colnago paint scheme.
    I purchased it in 2010 from the original owner. He had hardly ever ridden it. The bike has never been ridden in the rain and has never spent a night outside.
    The bike rides beautifully. It is very direct and responsive, and the Columbus Gilco tubes provide a ride quality of legendary suppleness. It is a dream.
    There are a few small scratches from storage; the cranks show typical scuffing; there are two very small and one slightly larger paint chip on the top tube (see photos).
    I am not entirely sure of the year, but it appears to be circa 1994. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can inform me. The paint scheme is incredible; the chrome is to die for. The bike and Campagnolo groupset are simply in gorgeous condition. There are no dents, and it has never been in an accident.
    Everything on the bike is original except the tires, chain, brake pads, and bar tape. This is a rare all-original example of one of Italy’s finest handmade steel bikes, as it was originally built up, and in an even more rare size. It is ready to go as a weekend-ride head-turner.
    Full Campagnolo 8-speed groupset (again, I am not an expert and am unsure of exactly which Campy line; it is not Record, but one of the mid-level groups). Selle Italia saddle. 700c x 25mm Continental Grand Prix 4 season tires with plenty of miles come on the original Campagnolo wheelset. Pantographed 3TTT stem and bars in beautiful condition.
    The bike had a full tuneup, with hubs repacked, in Spring 2019. My LBS has confirmed that the frame is in great shape.
    The seat tube measures 63cm center to center, and the top tube is 59cm center to center.

    2004(ish) Merlin Camena - $400 (Chatham)

    I have never ridden this bike so I can't speak to its performance, just trying to get back what I paid for it (which I've been told was a "wicked deal" by people who know the brand) It has no seat post or saddle and the wheels are some good Bontrager wheels that I picked up to go with it (both true and good braking surface). Shifters have some cosmetic damage but both work well nothing is stuck or gummed up. It has been stored indoors in a temperature controlled place so no unnecessary corrosion. Would be an amazing project for someone looking for a classy road ride that stands out from the rest. I can speak to that titanium will change the way you think about bikes!

    Bikeworks here in Seattle has moved to online sales. They have a 53cm Serotta Colorado with what looks like full Dura Ace STI for $777. I am not sure if they ship but if they don't, I would be willing to facilitate shipping to support them. https://shop.bikeworks.org/53cm-serotta-colorado.html

    I don't think I can justify that price for a bike that's not even ready to ride (although I may already have all the needed parts). It's fascinating, though. It's listed as a "small". Does anyone have any idea what a small Merlin is equivalent to in cm?
