Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? No problem, I'll just use a hickory cane. A lot more effective.

Actually I was born in Anderson South Carolina..so I know about Rock Hill because of my baseball team, not the internet. So what would you do if someone pulled a gun to you and demanded your bike...would you give it up or fight back?...oh another ?

roflcopter. 1) your idea of street cred is laughable. i'm sorry that i can sleep safe and sound at night as i dont live in a busy metropolitan area. i don't live in a hole of a city (oh, sorry i've been to st louis a few times. it's terrible.) the premise that because i havent had to defend myself or my bicycle from some interloper making my opinion less valid is asinine at best. 2) if i need to experience an "urban environment" via bicycle that you seem so fond of, i go up to charlotte to ride with friends. however, i think that this idea is silly in that why would i want to drive to ride my bike in a more crowded and more dangerous setting? the sheer fact that you are saying that i am less of a person because you seem to think that i lack violent experiences proves that you have sincere issues as to what qualifications makes one a man.

This thread has gotten ugly and out of control, so it is being closed temporarily to allowing things to cool down and permit cleanup by BF staff. If this sort of thing continues, the thread will be closed permanently.

PSA - Please read this first

This thread is being re-opened after being closed for violations of forum rules regarding harrassment and vulgarity, as follows:

Harrassment
Harassment occurs when a member insults, attacks, and denigrates another member at any time. We have zero tolerance for taking an argument about a any topic to a personal level. For instance, the use of terms such as "idiot, moron, stupid" and other derogatory terms constitutes harassment. The idea is to make this a pleasant environment to discuss cycling, not a schoolyard, or name-calling and rock-throwing festival. Repeated critical and sharply negative posts toward a forum member can also constitute harassment. This applies to all content submitted by users including posts, avatars and signatures.

Personal attacks and inflammatory behavior will not be tolerated.

Respect the forum staff. We're not here to make life harder to anyone. Any decision taken by the administrators and moderators is final and must be respected.

Vulgarity
As a community with a diverse variety of members and readers, we ask that our members to post without using vulgarity. Vulgarity not only includes vulgar language and pictures but also sexist, racist, anti-religious, images of graphic violence, political statements and homophobic language which may offend other members. In addition, the "masking" of vulgarity by inserting * or another keystroke in place of one or more letters in a vulgar term is unacceptable in most cases. This applies to all content submitted by users including posts, PMs, avatars and signatures.

Violations of these rules can lead to infraction points and banning from the forum.

Thank you for your cooperation.

You're kidding, right? You must be. The whole raison d'etre for this thread is to put down some random person's bicycle. Some unsuspecting guy who probably likes his/her own ride enough to take a picture of it and post it online, is picked and ridiculed.

The very essence of this thread is abuse and maligning. By posting the BF policies in this thread, you're making a mockery of them.

(Of course, you might want to think why this thread hasn't been locked long, long time ago, being it a denigration thread by its very nature. A little mental exercise in ethics.)
