Holdsworth ‘record’
Just picked this up, from my research this model was a lower end ‘touring’ model introduced in 1969.
I plan on changing out the handlebars to drops and general regrease/ clean etc
I paid $220 cdn...what do you think? Toronto area market... I thought it kind of high based on condition..
24” frame
ill post better pics over time. Front wheel was included but I had already taken it off to start on it.
campy record parts- original to bike
campy hubs- unsure of rims
gb stem-think it might be frozen in place- sprayed liquid wrench on it- fingers crossed
ugly aftermarket bar
not original saddle
not sure of the rack
i took it for a quick spin and seems like it will be promising after tear down
pardon the poor picks- will take better ones

I think you did ok for Toronto pricing.
Perhaps might spin upside down and add penetrant from bottom and let soak in. I'd completely remove the stem expander bolt before trying to remove the stem next time, might give a little more flex.

This was in Peterborough correct? I was tempted but the asking price and long drive were enough to dissuade me.

Thank you for sharing this interesting find.
If Reynolds transfer yet present and legible is it three-tube pg or three-tube db?
When you are able to post further images would be interested to see hs and shell.
Thanks again for posting.

I saw this too and thought it was a pretty good buy but just too far from me.
Did anyone here snag that $325 3Rensho the other day? I was first in line but someone offered him $800, oh well.
Nice Holdsworth, it was listed for a few months in the $400-ish price tag.
I came across this really inspiring story when I was googling the model. This guy has cycled more than a million miles and most of them, on a Holdsworth Record!

Retired civil servant, 82, is set to become the first to cycle one million miles 67 YEARS after he started meticulously recording his mileage
- Russ Mantle has recorded his cycling mileage in numerous diaries since 1952
- He is set to achieve a recorded one million miles on Thursday in a five-mile trip
- Mr Mantle will cycle from his home in Aldershot to a cafe in Mytchett, Surrey

Is that a Williams cottered crankset I see? The bike reminds me of an upscale Raleigh Super Course or Dawes Galaxy from the early 70s. I think you did really well to snag it!

chainset is Williams C34 pattern
production ceased 1962
so set likely one of the later Nicklin produced examples
a raised letter N will probably show on the inner face of the arms, sitting down in an oval recess

Here's a 1972 version - different paint job, but I bet the components are largely the same.
The "Record", as a bike from that era, is really an anachronism. The bronze Record rear der, after the NR version was out and about. My Front der still has the cable stop, after that had passed. And that heavy cottered crankset. By '72 even my Gitane Interclub had a cheap alloy cotterless. I could easily say the bike was from 1965 and few would be the wiser. But I like it, anyway, for neighborhood cruises.

And though I did not buy mine with all OE parts, I believe the headset was one of them, and I have a pic of the BB shell, too, HERE
[my fenders are definitely not OE]

I had one wheel that was definitely not original, and one I think was. Campy hubs with this 27" rim/ Shrader drilling
Though the saddle did not come with my purchase, the B5N was OE

once you get that stem loose you'll need to lower it as it could break if there's not enough
inside the steering tube. that saddle looks like one of the many clones of the Unicanitor
that came out after they became so very popular.

I think the rack is a TC (Touring Cyclist). I bought one for my Jack Taylor, since I wanted an English rack but couldn't afford a JT rack. They look cool, but supposedly sway like crazy with a heavy load.

find myself wondering if the actual maker of the rack might be Karrimore
it certainly resembles one from them am able to recall
do not wish to make any claim, have little knowledge of their products
the more common finish in my experience is a light grey plastic coating (appears dipped)

I bought the same bike from Bloor Cycle in 1970. I have extensively modified the bike and ride it to this day. The original rims on my bike were Fiamme Yellow Label clincher rims. Frame is Reynolds single butted but my decal has disappeared.
