Campagnolo cassette size formula
Hi
I have an 8 speed Campy athena on a 1990 Basso Loto
Chainrings are 42/53
There is a 12/23 on there now.
Could I go to a 13 / 26 cassette???
Really appreciate your help
Thank you

Yes.
Campy 13-26 cassettes are getting harder to find, but they pop up on popular online auction sites occasionally. Miche cassettes are a bit easier to find and are just as good.
You may need to get a longer chain.
If you're looking for a bit easier gearing, you could also replace the 42T chainring with a 39T. I'd also say replace the 53T with a 50T, but good luck finding one of those.

That is a bit odd - says 8 speed 13-26 in the 'add to basket' bit, but 9 speed 12-21 in the product specs.

Probably check with them before you pull the trigger.

I just ordered a Miche 8-speed cassette from BikeInn... I read some pretty negative reviews; I hope mine arrives OK
I need one for a Campy Chorus wheelset (mid-90s??), and ordered an exa drive cassette... the freehub body has one skinnier spline, so I think (hope) I'm ordering the right one.... This reminds me of buying (Shimano) Uniglide hubs and realizing not only do Hyperglide cassettes NOT fit, but Uniglide cassettes are rare as hen's teeth and crazy expensive!! They make it so difficult... WHY CAN'T the industry just stick to a single standard!!!!!!
Anyone know (definitively) whether you can swap out the exa drive freehubs for other (more universal) options????
Ya'll gon' make me lose my mind!!
THANKS!!!

When Exa-Drive cogs in touring-ish sizes became impossible to find for my wife’s former 8-speed Chorus/Record setup (and they wore at a surprisingly high rate), I converted her rear wheel to a Shimano Ultegra HG hub and loose cogs with Wheel Mfg’s conversion kit. That kit is no longer available, but it could probably be replicated with Shimano 7-speed spacers, plus a lock nut having a few more threads to accommodate the slightly wider total cassette. Pretty sure Miche makes the last item. The smallest cog with integral spacer can be thinner, BTW.
Bonuses: Shimano/SRAM cogs are much more readily available using 7 or 8-speed cassettes in a much greater size range, and significantly longer life.
