This guy doesn't know how to spell "Cotton," but this is an interesting find if it's legit (and cheaper than he's asking):

The real deal. This is a Ron Boi built RRB, not the ones he had built in Asia.

So want...but no funds right now.

Raleigh Tourist - $180 (Valparaiso, Indiana)

Date: 2010-03-16, 6:27PM CDT
Reply to: see below
https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/bik/1647337625.html

This is a great example of the rare Bobby Bike. The Raleigh Tourist. This bike is equipped with mechanical rod brakes, as opposed to cable operated brakes. Along with that distinction it has 28 x 1 1/2 inch tires.
The frame is 22" and the stand over is 32". It's a big 'un, but not necessarily for only big guys. It's in fantastic shape for it's 35 years of age.
It is mechanically perfect. I have completely re-done all the bearings (all). The 3 speed hub has been rebuilt. The chrome cleaned up great, with only elbow grease, (no steel wool). The paint has it's patina, all the decals are intact, the fenders and chain guard are not dented or bent. The irms have been trued and the spokes torqued properly. The seat is a correct Brooks B-72 (with springs). The seat shows it's age, but it is not ripped, and is still comfortable. The tires are not original, but, they are correct style, and they have all the tread.
This bike needs only the seat adjusted for the new owner, thats all.
E-mail me if you have any questions, or if you want to get some close-ups of a particular area. cardo@netnitco.net

Vintage Raleigh Twenty Folding Completely Rebuilt - $275 (Division/Milwaukee )

Date: 2010-03-16, 10:08PM CDT
Reply to: sale-phq2u-1647714781@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/bik/1647714781.html

Completely rebuilt from the bottom bracket up. Front and rear hubs repacked. 3 speed sturmey Archer serviced.
New brake cables and pads
New 100psi tires added very low rolling resistance. Much higher speed, directional, Less flats, thick casing.
New tubes
New chain
New headset bearings
New Chrome fenders
Rear Basket Available
This rides very well. The frame is rigid and will support a heavier rider than many folding bikes
Shifts well and performs like a lot like a conventional frame.
frame is clean with minimal marks.

I bid, but I was the guy who bid $62. I wondered how much attention they would get with the poor listing title. Eh, oh well.

Too bad he doesn't list a price - big pet peeve of mine. Though the whole "this bike would make a great fixie!!" line is an even bigger pet peeve so it is refreshing to see somebody not going down that road.

Didn't these frames have high failure rates?

EDIT: Apparently so, if you race it hard: https://www.classicrendezvous.com/USA..._article_1.htm

Could be worth it to a collector, I suppose.

BILL DAVIDSON TOURING BIKE - $600 (Hyde Park)

Date: 2010-03-17, 1:29AM EDT
Reply to: sale-ufcen-1647827690@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

CUSTOM BICYCLE WITH CAMPAGNOLO PARTS

Custom-built, high-end 16-speed road bike equipped with Campagnolo Veloce components. Made for touring and comfort. Lugged frame hand-built by Bill Davidson in Seattle Washington. Dynamite yellow color offset by bold black decals. Frame size should fit 6' or taller rider with a 34" to 36" inseam. Gear shifters are incorporated into break lever assemblies for easy, fingertip access without repositioning hands during ride.

Specs: Frame seat tube measures 64 cm (25-3/4") from top to center of bottom bracket. Top tube measures 22-1/4" from center of seat tube to center of head tube. Top tube is also elevated a few degrees above level at head tube end to bring the head tube closer to the rider and make for a more comfortable ride. Head tube is quite long at 9-3/8" and will accommodate an extra long handlebar stem, making it easier to get a proper fit. There is also a bit more clearance between tires and frame when compared to other road bikes to accommodate fender mounting. Crank chainwheels have 53 teeth (front) and 39 teeth (rear). Cassette hub sizing ranges from 13 to 26 teeth. Handlebar stem extends forward 110 mm (4-1/4"). Mavic Reflex rims mounted with 700 x 23 tires.

Bike was purchased in Aug 1997 for $2360 at Fat Dog Pro Shop in Westwood MA, receipt included. It has been ridden only 4 times and is in new condition in every respect; it is pristine. I am selling because I've been chronically ill and unable to ride, I held onto the bike in hopes of recovering. It's been stored in my dining room and given much love.

Biking enthusiasts will appreciate the mechanics, components, condition and all-around beauty of this bike. Must be seen.

Paid $2360. Asking just $600 or B/O for QUICK SALE.

Call Bob at (617)364-8693.

'Sides, that Pegoretti is sold, it was too big, and it was black, anyway. You already found me a black bike, remember?

N+1

No, not a bike. N+1 on leather saddles. I want to know who ebay buyer t***k is. The yahoo outbid me on the Brooks B72 I was thinking of putting on my hybrid commuter.

Which one of you scooped that one out from under me? Instead I settled for a Wrights W3.N for a little less.

I think I actually wanted an unsprung saddle anyway, but still.... a Brooks is a Brooks. The Wright will probably be fine, but I hate to lose.
