Scapin Italian racing frameset 59CM - $500 (Exeter)

Reply to: sale-3vzdv-2809434297@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
Scapin Atec Italian racing frameset, circa 1980's Price: $500

Columbus SLP tubing, 59 (c-c) cm seat tube, 57 cm top tube, barely ridden, Excellent condition. This is a beautiful bike. Campy drops, chrome fork and seat stays. Somewhat rare find in the USA.

Here is some info about Scapin if you are not familiar.....

"For the past 42 years, Scapin has built bicycles by hand. They pride themsleves in their engineering software, CICLOCAD, enabling them to best optimize the sections, the diameters and the reinforcements of their tubes - achieved in strict collaboration with COLUMBUS steel. Each one of their frames is accompanied along its production cycle by two schemes produced from their information system; one defining the geometry, the other indicating the quotes for setting up the machines during the manufacturing. The soldering is done by hand and manually refinished. All of their frames are internally varnished, observing strict criteria in the safeguard of the environment. The first in the world to introduce a special anti-corrosion treatment called A.W.P., a protective treatment whose aim is to make the stainless steel frames resistant with time to corrosion and to rust, externally and internally. A.W.P. (All Weather Proof) is in reality a triple process composed of zinc-nickel plating, phosphoric treatment and finally of a "black electrophoresis".

Peugeot PSVN 12 Super Vitus Road Bike - $250 (Portland)

Date: 2012-01-20, 12:23PM PST
Reply to: sale-zwxms-2805100088@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

1982 Peugeot PSVN 12 road bike in great condition, it has a 23 inch frame which suits me perfectly ( I'm 6'1, but I think anyone from 5'10-6'3 would be fine ). It was one of the top of the range Peugeot's and is a pretty rare bike. Its pearlescent paintwork and decals are all original as are many of its components. It's a lightweight bike, fast and smooth, and the Super Vitus 980 frame is a joy to ride. I've ridden it over the last year and regret having to sell it. It has 700c alloy wheels, a super Stronglight crank and lovely chrome forks, Ambrosio rims and CTA handlebars.

That PSV is a good deal on a great bike. I have one, and wouldn't sell it for less than $400.

This looks to be a 1984 or 85 Trek 720. With a Brooks Pro for $220. Not too shabby! Seller doesn't list the size, but the head tube suggests perhaps 58-60. Whoever owned it was definitely too short for it.

In the Reading, PA area.

Be suspicious, there was a thread earlier of this bike, because a guy here in Houston bought that same bike with the same ad. except the price wasn't as good of a deal.

If that turns out to be 1) legit and 2) a 58cm (although it looks a tad bigger), I'm gonna weep. Any facilitators in the area?

Perhaps I'm naive, but I don't see why this is suspicious. You think the fellow from Houston shipped his bike to Pennsylvania, and is now reselling it for a lower price? It's possible that they look similar because they're both close to stock (although why anyone would switch the barcons out for DTs is beyond me).

1983 Fuji Team 52cm - $400 (Brookline)

Complete Bike offered at $400. If you are a mechanic and have different designs for the frame I will sell it with whichever parts ala carte as listed below:

The bike is in top shape, minor cosmetic flaws you'd expect
with age, but remarkably well preserved. No hits, or dings or
structural compromises. Tubing is quad butted chomemoly ishiwata.
Brake mounts are recessed allen key fittings. While installing the
BB I shone a light to inspect and there was no signs of internal rust
or trouble. I have not disassembled the headset, but it operates
smoothly all 360 degrees.

here's the pricing:

Frame, fork, headset, seatpost (not original), binderbolt, BB
with spindle (freshly overhauled): $150,

without BB: $130
Crankset( 170, 42x52): 25
brakes: 30
bars/stem/ brake levers (hoods are toast) : 25
front and rear derailleurs: 35
Shifters: 15
chain: 5
Cables and housing: 15
Pedals (classic quill style) 10
suntour "perfect" 6speed freewheel 14-28: 10
suntour winner 6spd 13-24: 25

I've decided to keep the wheels in the pictures, but can provide some
decent wheels for around $75-150 depending on what I come up
with, complete with tubes and tires.

So any combination of frame and parts is acceptable at these prices.
I want to sell the frame first before letting any individual parts go,
just to be certain that I can equip the bike appropriately.

Miyata 912 ( Campy / Suntour ) 58cm - $350 (Lancaster)

Reply to: sale-emraf-2812677826@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
This classic road bike dates back to around 1989 and is 12 speed. I have made many component upgrades as follows:

Frame: double butted cr. molly ( 58 cm )
Rear deraileur, shifters, hubset, and pedals : Campagnolo Record ( pedals come with bike and are Look style )
Front der. and crankset: Suntour Cyclone M II
Rims: Ambrosio 19 Elite with DT Stainless spokes ( custom built on Campy hubs )
Saddle: Concor Super Corsa ( Selle San Marco )
Handle Bars: ITM Pro 260
Brake set: Suntour Superbe
Cyclometer: Avocet 45TT

This was my first real road bike and back in the day was top end equipped. I have since taken to off road trail riding and don't ride it much
although it is in quite decent condition and would make a nice collector item which could still be ridden.
There is no comfort comparable to a steel frame and this bike rides very smooth.
It could use the bar tape replaced. Other than that, It's good to go with new rubber.

Price is firm and serious inquiries only please.

And 1985: https://vintage-trek.com/images/trek/85TrekTouring.pdf

I'm pretty sure we have some facilitators in the Philly area! I would, but I don't trust myself to pack it safely.
I wouldn't imagine the guy who buys it in houston shows it off here on a forum and recycles the previous sellers (poor quality) ad at a loss from what he originally paid, and in a city a thousand miles away. That would just be silly of me.

But I agree with you, I should have been a lot clearer in what I was trying to say, I was trying to get word out quickly. That ad is worded almost exactly (if not the same) like the ad that ran here in Houston for the bike that a forum member bought not long ago, and it is for sure the same picture that was used in the ad.

Of course, it is possible there is a person in Philly who is just recycling the ad almost exactly and happedend to chop 100+ dollars off the price. But I just have a feeling that the ad is a fake and possibly part of a scam... what kind of scam? I can't imagine,

Anyone have any idea what that contraption is hanging off the seatpost and running on the back wheel? That's weird atmo.

is it some kind of bizzaro generator? that was my first thought, but there's no wires.

Maybe it's an exercise machine for their gerbil. It either keeps up or gets shredded into mincemeat!
