Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? I wish I could participate this Friday, but I will be in Florida on vacay. Maybe in August. Nonetheless, If I did bring the bike to the Mass, I'm sure I would get compliments as I do when I'm riding around. Even when the rims were getting installed at the bike lane (where I purchased the rime for those in Chicago), nothing but compliments. Then when I told them what I paid for the bike minus the customizations, they were surprised. Regarding hills in Chicago, I guess bridges don't count as climbs or declines and GPS tracking lies when tracking speeds hmmm..... I put the aerospokes on the bike b/c I wanted to customize my bike (Hense everything in red). But, I'm glad we can agree to disagree on the looks since it doesn't hurt the bike or it's performance and your just trolling for the sake of. For anyone that wants aerospokes, they're good rims. Don't listen to anyone that says they're not.

I rode Mass in Chicago at the end of May. Good turn out, wish I could make the next one, and the one after that, and after that..... and yes, I know Bike Lane.

I had an Aerospoke on a previous bike. It was heavy. That is all.

Oh... you are correct, good sir. My apologies to the forum in general. I inadvertently compared the golden leaved apple with the diamond encrusted orange. In this case, it may be more apropos to replace said fruit with the correct vernacular, i.e. "turd."

I live in Irving Park as well. Right down the street from Get a grip bike shop. They assembled my bike actually.

Well, THIS 60 year old Clydesdale has put over 40,000 miles on two sets of F&R Aerospokes on two different flat bar road bikes, including two HORRENDOUS crashes; wheels are still perfect, with very acceptable run-out...

I'm a pounder and not a spinner; they take a bit of time to "spool up", but the rotational inertia is great - once they're rolling, they're ROLLING! I've passed COUNTLESS guys while riding the Santa Ana River Trail - they look at me like I fell out of a spaceship!

Yeah, they can be a bit "twitchy" in the crosswinds, but I've gotten used to it. They're made in the USA, I can personally attest that they are BOMBPROOF, and they give the bike a "look"; not gonna say that it's to everyone's taste, but neither was your mother, but SOMEBODY thought so...

Those of you with sharp eyes will notice that the Niner frame has been "notched" to accept a road crankset, rather than a mountain gear setup. It also has electronic shifters; both bikes have hydraulic disc brakes with magnesium discs, and both weigh ~18 pounds "all-in", including my (VERY extensive) tool bags...

O.K. - Resurrect the Aerospoke flaming, Boys!

Currently running a front Aerospoke on my Felt, and you know what? I like the damn thing. Looking for a rear as well. I don't care. I like how they ride. They make them about an hour or so away from me. I should just drive down and buy one directly from them.

I have them on my recumbent P-38 and recommend them as being excellent and hassle free, no spoke adjustments or tightening required for life. I carry 60+ pounds on the back of my recumbent with a frame extension and they are really nice.
