OK to switch brands when getting a new chain

Hello all,

I have an 11 speed Giant Defy with Ultegra drivetrain. I am currently using a SRAM PC1110 chain that is worn out. My LBS carries KMC chains. I Know it's a few buck more but I would like to support my LBS by purchasing through them instead of online. Would it be OK to get an KMC11.93 or should I stick with the SRAM chain?

Yes, the KMC will be fine. They make good chains.

Yes, this is fine. You've already "switched brands" by using a SRAM chain with a Shimano drivetrain. You can keep switching.

I'm sure there are some chain/drivetrain combos that don't work well, even assuming you've got the right chain width.

Yup, longtime user of KMC's and some of the other major brands. They work as good as any of them in almost all groups.

Agree with others, mostly. I've tried the 11 spd. SRAM chains on Shimano systems and find that Shimano chains shift better.

Thank you to all for your valuable insight. Went yesterday and bought a chain at my LBS. They're happy and I'm happy.
