Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Kudos on the ride, bummer about ye olde conveyance.

But I hear you can buy a bucket of food, and when you're done with the bucket, and the food, you can use the bucket to collect the used food, if you catch my drift.

I have the same thing going on with a step daughter. I have no connection whatsoever with his siblings. I think you're making it too complicated, And actually, even if she was my natural daughter, it would be the same. The stepson is brother-in-law to those guys, but you are right out of the picture.

Picked up a birthday present this morning. A pair of Fulcrum Racing 600 db wheels. I've been looking for some TA wheels so I don't have to wear out a GP5000 on the Kickr Snap trainer. These are essentially new. I just need a cassette. Mind you, if I want to use them on the road, I'll also need disks. I suppose I could use them for gravel tires, if I felt so inclined, which so far I don't.

I should probably leave the original front wheel on, otherwise I might accidentally try to ride with no brake disks, which could be exciting, though probably brief.

Dark Helmet: I am your father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate.

Saturn update: $750 for muffler/exhaust and should buy me one more year. I think that’s reasonable but mrs datlas and I will have to discuss.

I guess that would make my envy not quite as chilly, and somewhat shallow - LOL.

Here's some cold and deep...I have a buddy, a bit younger than I am, who is married to a an amazing woman that makes a really nice salary, such that he can choose whether to work or not. His "job" is bike patrol/ski patrol (depending on season) at Snowshoe Mtn, WV. For the last couple of years, he has also been part of the crew that built the World Cup MTB race courses at the site. Despite my envy, they are some of my favorite humans, and I wish I could spend more time with them.

I had a feeling that was the case. They're not even step-brothers-in-law?

What makes it complicated to me is that I treat and think of them as family, the whole gang. And they treat me with much respect, like I'm the patriarch.
