Greetings from Pacifica CA

Born in USSR, I used to ride a bike called, naturally, "Ukraine" - a one-size-fits-all, single speed coaster with 28" wheels, and awesome Brooks-like suspended leather saddle. It was designed in 1960, and its variants are still produced today. During the 80’s it was a perfect choice, and easy too - there was not much else there and then. Nevertheless, it opened infinite possibilities. Lucky owners of "Ukraine" used it for commuting, competing, and just about everything else you can’t imagine without 5-10 shots of vodka. If you are man enough, you could ride it from Kiev to your dacha a fifty miles away with a bucket of cement on each handlebar’s end, your girlfriend on the front rack, and her grandmother on the rear rack. Oh, I miss the good ole' days. Sadly, it is impossible to buy the "Ukraine" bike in the San Francisco Bay Area where I live now.
After 20 years in the corporate IT world, I started doing something tangible and lasting for a change - I bring old-school MTBs back to life.
Just restored a very festive 1990(?) Univega Alpina Trail and created its album on this forum.
Cheers!

Welcome.
I used to live near Pacifica - well, Santa Cruz. Loved the choice of coastal or mountain rides. My son a serious mtb'er loved the riding, too.

Thank you! My entire family love Santa Cruz, and it is a pure joy driving there on freeway 1. The Bike Church is one of my favorite places in town. It really feels like a community bicycle shop. Santa Cruz Bicycles now offer factory tours and you can rent some of their newest $10k mountain wonder-bikes and take them for a ride in the mountains. My company used to have an office in Seattle and I have been there a few times. Now I will go ahead and google at least some of your bikes. It is a shame, but I never heard of most of them. Will correct that mistake now.

That is a beautiful bike. It was its younger sibling by Schwinn that got me into old school bicycles restoration. Impeccable quality components put together by people who like what they are doing. Good ole' days
