Finally out for my 1st ride since 1986.

I finally got the old 64 Supersport out for a ride. I had to replace the rear tube and all four brake pads. At the recommendation some of you made I ordered from Tim at Koolstop. Really nice guy and a pleasure to do business with. I was able to get replacement pads that look just like the original. If my back tolerates riding I will replace my tires and seat. I would really like to get another Brooks leather seat that is just like the original. I just took this picture as I stopped at the public park.

My 1964 Schwinn Super Sport, picture taken at Liberty Park in Sedalia , Mo.

Nice bike in great condition. I'd put modern bar tape on it, but if it's not uncomfortable for you the vintage look is cool.

+2 to everything posted above. That bike is gorgeous!

Reminds me of the "adult" bikes in the Schwinn catalogs my parents used to bring home just to tease us with. I was still lusting over the Orange Crates and other kid's bikes, but the adult bikes were fun to look at too.

Yah it's gorgeous, but practical?? Not. I hope you greased the hell out of every part. I had to when I bought my 1973 CCM 3 speed.
Those drops will not be comfortable, or safe IMO. Get a comfort bar, all I have ever liked.
At the very least, give your front wheel a 700c rim for a 35 mm tire. The back is likely too narrow.
I built whole new 650B wheels too, just reusing the front hub.
