Watch For Glass! Page Mill Rd.

My usual long Sunday ride was cut short when my rear tire instantly deflated just after I'd crested Page Mill after Deer Creek, and started heading down towards Old Page Mill. The tire was a total loss, too far gone to try a boot and new tube for the 23 mile ride home. So, it was Call Of Shame time. While waiting for my wife to arrive I searched for the culprit. A curved piece of clear glass, about 3/4" long and maybe 1/8" on a side. Left these cuts in the tire:

Probably a bottle chucked out the window of a car, days, weeks, or months ago. So, be careful out there!

Larry would fill that with chewing gum and go on to win the ride.

I am not in favor of the death penalty. I'd make an exception for people who break bottles on the roadway.

I call them glass holes. I'm glad genejockey wasn't injured.

Thank you! I was only going 18 when it happened (according to Strava), but a hundred or so yards farther and I'd have been doing more like 30, and then there's that curve onto Old Page Mill....

^ ^ ^ Jinkies!

Having a strong dislike of flats, I finally put a Mr. Tuffy under my rear tire. So far, so good.
