My BF usage dropped over the years and I just started back logging in lately, myself.

People don't talk about oxalic acid they way they used too.
The "Don't you DARE repaint that bike!!" folks have chilled out.

Let's see, what happened while you were gone.. there were some great discussions about why shop mechanics are usually clueless and how much bike shops overcharge for parts when compared to the internet. It was also agreed that vintage bikes are better than new ones, and that carbon bikes are plastic junk. Oh and there were many threads discussing peoples' excitement and anticipation of disc brakes on road bikes.

There were some other discussions too, I'm sure others will chime in.

80s MTBs have gained traction generally. The drop bar conversion thread is notable.

Less fixed gear.

Early nineties stuff became vintage somehow.

Gosh, six years ago I had just signed up on BikeForums for the first time!

Since then, I've gone from a total n00b who asks dumb, naive questions to a scaly old veteran who confidently gives authoritative-sounding (yet astoundingly incorrect) answers. It's been a good time.

There is still occasional warning of the DIRE consequences of disassembling any Sturmey Archer 3-speed hub. You'll likely never get it to work again....and parts for them are like hen's teeth!

Hahahahahahaha!

Do I remove the chain before or after letting the wax set up? Is the chain supposed to be in a liquid form when I dip it? Should I spray the waxed chain with WD-40 or Windex before riding it?

The big majority of the people here are truly Classic, and we are really getting Vintage. Glad you've returned, just don't be one of those back sliders.....
