Cannondale Serial number question
A friend is looking at a Cannondale Quick 5 on Craigslist in the Houston area. The seller is claiming it's 2016 but looking at the archives it looks like a 2010 to me. She has the serial number SM46889 and some other numbers CD7CQ415 and AV08506686. The seller states it's a medium frame but does't now if its a mens or womens. Is there any way to tell any of this info from the serial numbers. I know on the older Cannonades it was fairly easy to decipher but on the newer ones I am lost.

Out of curiosity, I googled those three numbers.
SM46889 and AV08506686 didn't produce any relevant hits other than this post.
CD7CQ415 produced a couple of interesting hits:
This one: https://bikeindex.org/bikes/776947 where someone registered a Cannondale Womens Quick 4
And this one: https://chicago.stolenbike.org/node/184695 where someone listed a Cannondale Quick 4 as having been stolen in Chicago area in 2010.
Note, that doesn't mean the bike your friend is looking at is stolen. People often mix up the model number and the serial number.
I've seen bikes listed for sale where the number from the bicycle safety standard sticker (EN ISOxxxx) is given as the model name!
Anyway, assuming CD7CQ415 is the model number, this implies the bike in question is a Quick 4 made 2010 or earlier.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses. She ended up with a much newer Specialized for a slightly lower price.
Here is a link for the Cannondale for the curios. https://houston.craigslist.org/bik/d...600080395.html

You might can the difference between a 2010 bike and a 2016 bike by the model of the group set on it assuming the group set is original. Several of if not most of the tiers of Shimano road bike groups changed between then.
Look at pictures of the bikes and compare with Cannondale's old pictures of those bikes when new. Maybe a Cannondale dealer can give you a better idea.
