Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Right. Houses are only a mil and a half there.

Not me, god knows! But Mrs. GJ will only consider place where she "knows someone", even if it's someone she hasn't been in contact with for years.

Feel free to let her know one of your BF knucklehead friends thinks that is NOT a rational way to choose where to live.

I'm thinking about having us rent an AirBnB there in, say, January. She THINKS she grew up in that kind of weather, but really, she only lived in the NorthEast from the age of 11 - 22 - and NONE of that in Buffalo! Apart from that, it's been Arizona, Florida, and California.

We use FulGaz because we want to enjoy the scenic rides from all over the world instead of the cartoonish stuff. However, despite having very challenging terrains and routes, it’s not a group thing; one rider at a time. Also, my wife and I can share the same account.

I also find the Zwift visuals depressingly bad. Rouvy uses video and the routes are pretty cool.
I haven’t tried Rouvy but it sounds somewhat similar to FulGaz.

I’ve climbed some Belgian hills like the Bosberg and the Kappelberg, and strolled through the Swiss Alps, rode along Lake Garda, and tackled some of the Yorkshire lanes which are nasty steep.

Good question. The red is drop dead gorgeous in my opinion. If I sell a couple bikes/trikes, I might just do it. You only live once.

In Ritchey news, some significant happenings. On yesterdays ride, out of no we’re it would shift to the big ring. The front derailer would shift, but it wasn’t enough to move the chain to the big ring. I tried adjusting the High but all I managed to do was make the chain rub on the little ring. Will have to play with that more.

I also removed the tape. Y’all successfully made me self conscious about my brake cable routing so I’m going to fix that. I also move the hoods down about 7 degrees and then tilted them inward significantly. I was finding the hoods to be uncomfortable at the height they were at, and I plan on tilting all my hoods in. The way I ride with my forearms parrallel to the ground it causes me to tilt my wrist back when I am on the hoods. Still have to test ride it to make sure I like it, I might have to bring them back up a degree or two.

Funny, I had my LBS wrap my other two bikes in the past and both times I asked them to tilt the hoods in, and both times they barely had any angle. They thought I was nuts, but it makes sense to me.
FD is a cable tension adjustment. Use the barrel adjuster.

The limit screws do nothing to cable tension. They limit the amount the derailer is allowed to move.

I was under the impression the limit was off that is why it wasn’t pushing the chain onto the big ring?

If you had been able to go to the big ring, but then suddenly can't, unless you or someone else played with the limit screws, it's not the limit screws.

Bollocks. I asked my bike shop before I came on here and asked. My mistake.

Insufficient cable tension is also a possibility.

The wife and I did a very small concrete project just as the sun was setting. Now, an hour later, I can barely move. The locals mix cement by hand day in and day out.

I had planned on a decent week this week but came down with vertigo yesterday and spent the day puking.

For the trainer discussion, I plan on doing Trainer Road all winter. I am doing it with a goal in mind, last spring I did Rasputitsa gravel race (100k, 7500 climbing) at 14.6 this year I want an 18 average.

I will likely need to up my trainer time this winter. I am doing the Mallorca 312 in April so need to be able to do longer distances relatively early in the season. I am confident I could do that ride today but I don't think I could have done it in April.
