Where did you ride your road bike today?

Today i rode 65.7 miles from san jose to palo alto then over the bridge to fremont and around the levees and back to palo alto where i took Caltrain to san jose. I bought some innertubes and later a oreo milkshake because it was hot today. The weather was 60-97F sunny with light winds. I have now 1800+ miles in one month of owning this bike, that is a new record for me. I added and modified a rear rack to the front of the bike and added a trunkbag, it works great.

Stuck an extra 15 miles into the middle of my 12 mile commute to visit some cattle and other livestock.
I should have remembered that going down into that one river valley I was going to have to come out again.

I just got back...
I rode from my house here in the western suburbs of Richmond, Virginia, and rode down to the James River along Riverside Dr., turned around and rode back the same way. 14.30 miles in 57:33 for an avg speed of 14.9 mph.
On the return trip on Riverside Dr., I stopped at the "Z Dam" where people always kayak in the rapids (and go through the "chute" (top/center) in the dam). I snapped a photo of my C&V '85 Fuji Del Rey up against the fence with the river in the background.

Put in my first 20+ mile ride of the year - 24.5 to be exact. Just roaming around the streets, saw a couple deer on a paved trail. I've only been riding one or two days a week this year, been swimming and running a lot lately. Almost forgot how much I love the bike.

Started in Denver, climbed lookout mountain and rode back. Forgot my heart rate monitor so I couldn't do a top effort. I had never been there before so I didn't know how short it was and never started suffering. Ended up barely in the top quarter on strava but could have done better. I had a lot of energy leftover after the ride that went to waste.

Mill Creek Metroparks in Youngstown Ohio
I have been riding a 30 - 35 mile loop here in Youngstown Ohio that takes me through Mill Creek Park. I am constantly amazed at how few people I see in such a large inner city park (Mill Creek Metroparks ranks among the largest metropolitan-owned parks within the city limits of any US city). Usually on my loop through the park I usually only see two or three other road cyclists.
Shown below is a picture of the oldest bridge in Mill Creek park that was errected in 1895 and still functions as a regularly used vehicle and pedestrian bridge spanning the east and west sides of Mill Creek. The one side of the road that leads down to this bridge is very nice downhill section where I usually hit 30 - 32 MPH. The other day I passed a newer Mustang on a curve just before the bridge because they were dawdling along enjoying the view.

I always ride on the Tammany Trace, a 30+ mile dedicated bike path through the woods and suburbs. It's part of the Rails to Trails system, being converted from old railroad lines. No cars or other motor vehicles allowed, and only a few street crossings.
I won't ride on public roads.
The Trace is great, and is the only bike path like it in Louisiana.

Genetics have failed me
Rode from Kalterer See in Sued Tirol/Italy to Kuftstein/Austria on Sunday. It was very hot, 95F-100F, the last 10km of the climb is around 8-10%. Pretty difficult climb for a bigger cyclist like myself. But the apple strudel on top was awesome!
Before that Sunday as a 12 man group we rode from Lenggries/Germany to the Kalterer See from Thursday to Saturday. Passed by the Passo di Stelvio. Wanted to go up there so badly, but didn't have the time since I was with the group. Most of the 340km into Italy it was mostly bike path, a long distance route called Via Claudia Augusta. Very nice nature and beautiful views of the Alps. Highly recommended!

I had a flat this morning a really big goat head, so i stopped by a bike shop and bought/installed tuffy tire liners. I hope it works. Also i had a oreo milkshake too.

My son and I set out with the intent of doing 50 miles, first time he's done that distance, and a while since I have. We got kind of lost and ended up doing 60 miles. It was great.

Today i rode 83 miles with my fully loaded 53 lb mountain bike from san jose to redwood city and back. I had Jack in the Box burgers and fries for lunch and Subway sandwich on the way home. I also bought powerbars, cliff bars and a innertube today. I then saw 6 cop cars and a person arrested at my local train station. The 27.5 mountain bike is quite fun and challenging to ride.

Rode from my place down to Bedford MA, got on the Minuteman Bikeway. Went to either Arlington or Cambridge, not sure which. Sat by the Uncle Sam statue for a while and watched traffic go by. Then back home. Weather was perfect this morning.
