this morning they highlighted the pro tweaks to a stage sprint finish winner's bike ..

Featured: electronic shifting and turning over a 54:11 gear to over 50mph.

And what's the fixation on the matte black finish on components? Cheaper, or saves 4.9g over the whole bike, or...???

I can turn a 54:11 -- on the repair stand.

Raw silver isn't really an option with carbon components, unless you finish them in metal plating, which would be silly. The next obvious generic component color to go with is black. And if a whole bunch of stuff is black, it's easier to match things if everything is black. Mixing silver with other colors is doable, but it's easy to get it wrong and end up with something that looks bad.

Tell me what's going on there?
I will tell you what is going on, and mention your ignorance of bicycle racing. The noise is set up purposely with disc brakes too allow other riders in the peloton to know when someone is braking without having to verbally communicate their actions.

Could they possibly get it so wrong that these bikes could look any worse?

I've never heard this argument before - ever. I would have expected this to come up as a counterpoint in at least one of the articles discussing the large number of riders who have spoken against them citing safety issues, but I haven't come across a single reference to that effect.

-Kurt

P.S.: Please keep the insults out of C&V. Thank you.

Your ignorance is no justification as to why or why not also. What you may or or may not have heard means little, I suggest you communicate with some race mechanics and not internet tales.

Your ambiguity is no justification as to why or why not also. What you say means little if you don't bring anything to the table other than a sharp tongue.

Presumably, you have communicated with race mechanics. Perhaps you could share what you've heard and experiences, instead of being disrespectful to those who aren't in the know?

That oughta simplify life, huh? No need to crash, just to get a cool-looking bike. 🤔😁😉

It's like they're trying every possible effort to be different and unique without much reason. The whole thing looks like stress risers for the hell of it.

I can't answer about the rear suspension, but the chain's a bit slack for a track bike, and I think this ones fork is also backwards.

Right. Just like the Dura Ace 74XX SIS downtube shifters. They were designed to click so loud to alert the other riders that you were attacking.

What most bikers that have grown up in the CF era see when we show off our beautiful lugged steel:

Regarding crashworthiness/rider protection, I'm not seeing the reinforced tub protecting the rider. Can someone please point it out?

My tall bike has a 54/11 top gear and I've had it up to 54.5 MPH :-)

Its crazy they don't run a 10 cog on modern race bikes IMO.

Good call. Now if I was racing I would bring a chalk board with me and scrape my finger nails on it to confuse the other racers. They brake and I sail of into the distance. And if they caught up I would do it again and again till they where exhausted by chasing me down and I win every race with no need for a 54/11 sprint gear.
Plus of course the added bonus I set up my brakes to work correctly.
Bye the way how do they make them screech like that.

Like ‘em all

Per what I see on Velo News.

I see differences in approach by frame designers. When did we see that with steel? More rare there, I think.

The Bianchi and Madone are hot. I have no issues with pro bike graphics but I resent in a teeny way paying to advertise a bike for the brand. I’m hypocritical that way because I dig my Wraith and want everyone to have one.

They all look fast, and I like fast, even if I am not.

When I look at the ‘20 TdF rides and those on C&V, I see links.

’55 Corvette and the new mid-engine model.
Hank Williams Sr and the BoDeans
Hootie & the Blowfish and the 70’s Methodist hymnal.
A Stearman biplane and the A6 Intruder

It is all relative.
Relatively speaking.

Did anybody else notice that with all of the crashes so far this year that several of the CF implosions have been quickly removed from the scene ? It was even pointed out by several of the talking heads.

This bike looks like when you sit on it, you're probably in violation of the decency code 38 states.
