SS Brazing Question
I have a VO Decaleur that holds my random bag. The other day the party that attaches to the stem broke. It looked like the 1/4" tube tore. Though I could get one through the shop at cost+ I decided to see about repairing it. I messed up the angle where the tune meets the "washer/spacer". So instead of putting it through another heat cycle I decided to have a go at making a new one. I needed some things at McMaster Carr so I added some SS tubing and some rod. I decided that substituting rod for tube on this small piece was a concern.
Doug Fattic told me to use Fillet Pro which I had left over from class.
So some hamfisted rod bending with heat and some wooden jigs to hold everything I got it done! Though the kind are literally toast! Hey I a woodworker!
So my question is when working with SS am I stuck with brass colored fillets? Or is there someother technique ?
I will try to post a pic tomorrow.

The fillets are going to have a yellow tint. I imagine you can make things worse if you work at it.

There are some silver based brazes that would be silver but thewy are rather expensive. Ifit doesnt ned to be too strong, you could use tin-silver solder.

I do little SS work but I generally use 56% silver assuming the contact surface area is sufficient. 50N is another silver filler (w/ nickel IIRC) that is SS friendly. It is what food SS service products might use as it won't tarnish like 56% can. 50N handles gaps better too although is a pain to file. Andy
