Carbon Wrapped Stem, Peeling

Some of the carbon is peeling on my "carbon wrapped" stem. To me it looks like an aesthetic issue only and not a structural/safety issue.

Looking closely at the aluminum I can't see anything more than some chipped paint, it appears to be structurally sound. Additionally, the carbon that's peeling is very very thin and its peeling straight back on a horizontal line making me think it was just a single piece of carbon laid on a normally spec'd aluminum stem....for aesthetic and not structural reasons.

Anyone familiar with carbon-wrapped stems able to weigh-in? aesthetic or structural?

"Carbon wrap" implies it's ornamental.

A lot of carbon stems are 'carbon wrapped alloy'. If it's peeling, just get another stem.
A Kalloy Uno 7 lightweight can be had on ebay for $25-30 and is lighter than most stems 2-4x the cost. 20 seconds of rubbing with paint thinner removes the logos and its then simple matte black.
