Hi,
I am currently using some milianparts on my brommie, like the superb dolly leather grips (100% pure sheep leather) that matches colour with a brown brooks seat so great!
Very well finished products as Girona says.
I guess they have a brand new online shop btw.
Cheers

To make it easier to slide in when folding the bike??
Not sure, but regular old chromed steel is quite low friction as well.
The aluminum seatpost in my Dahon has developed wear on it, making it darker and also making it dirty. It will stain your hand if you grab the seatpost in that area. Maybe this "low friction black chrome" prevents this?

Low friction is to prevent the chrome to peel or wear off. Some seat pillars are painted and they will be scratched after some use, this doesn't happen with black chrome. It doesn't affect slippage either.

My mods are really few and limited but I am working on it. I started with a M6L, took out the mudguards and changed the original handlebar with a low rise one. Replaced green labeled tyres with a pair of Kojak. Now I am waiting for a bullhorn handlebar type arriving from the US.

My Brompton mods are:
1. Taking off the glued on grips and replacing with Ergons
2. Upgrading to the new EZ Wheels and brake levers, but those buying Bromptons since about 2012 already get those standard
3. Adding fenders -- thought I wouldn't need fenders when I bought the bike, silly me (I live in Seattle!)
4. Upgraded the saddle (have had Brooks B-17, Terry Fly and Selle Royale on there and currently Selle Anatomica
5. Took the reflectors off the back and replaced them with Sunlite combo lights/reflectors and added post-mounted taillights right under the saddle
If the metal hinge clamps from Brompification ever come down in price I will likely upgrade those as well.

At least those are positive additions! After many years of service, my rear light broke so I took out the innards and stuck a cheap LED to the base with Sugru. There are some pointless fixings on the handlebars for front lights/speedometers/etc long since discard. I have also added a lot of greasy mud to the rear axle to give it a distinctive look. However I have only had the bike 20 years and feel there is much more to come. Anyone want photos?
Current project: trying to figure out how to get the broken rear mudguard off to replace it with a rear rack/mudguard. The screws are immovable. Contemplating wire cutters.
Future projects: Brake maintenance. Finally getting the saddle at the right angle.

BB 386 Crank
Yes it can. I just installed a FSA Gossamer crank with a 386 EVO BB and it woks perfectly. You will have to install a 1 mm spacer on the drive side BB shell and make sure to have single chain ring bolts to avoid having to use spacers. Works well.

My favorite sites for Brompton mod part:
Bike48 - Brompton Ti Custom Parts | Bringing the bike closer to you
Great quality and relatively good prices. Prices in Singapore dollars. Deduct approx 30% for USD prices.
Brompfication - Modifications for Brompton Folding Bikes - Brompfication
One of the originals. The chain tensioner is a work of art.
https://novdesign.co.kr/?ckattempt=1
Perhaps the most high-end of aftermarket parts. A few US retailers including nycewheels and B-Fold
