Cable hole is 2mm
Derailleur section the bolt must pass through is 6mm

So assuming the bolt shaft needs at least 4mm to catch in the nut, then
estimated bolt shaft length would be 12mm.

Sound about right?

I think I gots one for ya, but the nut is plain not domed. However I can look for a domed nut tonight if that's a must-have, good chance I will find one. You have the washers you need, right?

That would be great! Domed is not a must have, but if you have one even better. Washers are part of the "clip" that the bolt passes through, so not a problem.
I will follow up with PM.

No problem. I'm pretty sure you might be able to find some Challenger or Success FD to cannibalise if need be. There is also a good chance that earlier Huret Eco FD's might be using the same or very similar bolts. Something worth checking.

The bolt I have has the total length of 13.8mm, threaded part 6mm. Flat to flat part is 4.9mm, round to round is 5.8mm. Cable hole is between 1.5 and 2mm.

I have some Simplex mountain bike thumb shifters if anyone wants to swap for something. I haven't sent anything Stateside for years and I think since Canada Customs has increased the PITA factor wanting you to fill out their forms "online" beforehand.

Could use a 9mm Ritchey "Skraxle" for a front wheel. The wheel is useless without it.

Simplex thumbies are very cool little items. You are correct that there is definitely more effort needed to ship from here to you, but it is really the surprising cost.

Lock that stores inside handlebar?

I once had a lock that stored inside the handlebar, it was a plastic-sheathed cable that slipped inside the handlebar, doubled, terminating in the lock-and-bar-plug arrangement. When stored all you saw was the rubber plug.

I was unable to find a picture on the net, but found this instead; more or less the same idea but keyed (=better, the one I had was a combination):

I know neither of these would be much problem for anyone with determination, but to prevent an opportunistic walkaway they'll do; the real plus is nothing need to be attached to the bike, or even seen to be attached.

So I'd like either version...

EDIT - found a (bad) pic of the one I had:

Need serrated headset washer/hanger combo

One of these:

to go here - in place of the black serrated washer and that kludge of a brake cable hanger can then be retired:

Oh my, I'd love one of those! Didn't even know anyone made French standard brake cable hangers. On the bicycle I use centre pull brakes on, I could afford adding another milimeter or two to the headset stack height, so went with Weinmann (I think) cable hanger (the model with cable adjuster, not the one with QR) which was stamped in a sheet of metal (around 1-2mm thick). But the solution above is simply awesome.

Mafac made in some ways the nicest centre-pull hanger, they could be had in stainless, they had a slot, and they were stiff.

And sometimes a 25mm hole with a flat.

The Zeus hanger is a close second - similar construction but no slot and a riveted ferrule.

Who was just looking for one of those...? @Andy_K perhaps. Or maybe he was looking for a newer one but ended up using the old?

Yeah, I was trying to solve a problem with limited stack height. I bought the CLB hanger pictured in this thread from another BF member but ended up finding a thinner separate serrated washer that allowed me to use the MAFAC hanger.

@oneclick I have the piece you’re looking for. Send me a PM.

Stronglite Crank Set

If anyone's looking for one, I ran across this. I don't know and haven't done business with the seller, and have no financial interests here.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/175345224908

Seller located in US, asking cost around $53.50 with S/H. Dunno if the seller ships internationally or not, or if they might accept a lower offer (the listing doesn't have a "Make Offer" option, but that's not always definitive).

Item appears well-worn, is 170mm, and is a 5-arm, non-fluted design. Both crankarms appear to be marked "J5". Chainrings specified as 52/40, 122mm BCD. Chainrings and bolts included; bolts have some rust.

Have no idea if it's worth the cost, but if someone needs this exact crankset at least it's an option.

i have a similar issue. They sort of just appear and who knows which they came in. I put a bunch of the where the heck did they come from brakes in the FS forum, and especially had a unique assortment of Modolo and Gran Compe stuffing.

by the way, all well stocked hoarding places need at least one random 600 set of levers and a pair of Superbe levers. It is expected that they should in no way, shape of form have the partner calipers...I have 2 sets of each I believe.

I'm sure I have more. I can think of some oddball levers for straight bars and possibly others still rattling around in a few crates of mixed bits. Calipers is another story. Weinmanns and Mafacs seem to multiply when left alone in the dark.

ISO a cable stop / barrel adjuster unit for a Modolo Corsa brake caliper. Looks pretty much like the pic below, though there are variations. I'm not picky as long as the shoe fits. The calipers are up for trade too if anyone wants 'em...

Not by Ritchey, but it's a 9mm thru axle. Dunno if it would work for your specific application or not.

Don't know the seller, haven't done business with them, and have no commercial interests in play here.

Edited to add: Also ran across a listing for a DT Swiss 9x100mm thru axle at about 2x the cost of the above. PM me if you want that info.
