Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Correct on all points.

So he asked us when we wanted to schedule. She would be 39 weeks Jan 1st. We wanted Dec 30th or Dec 31st. 2 reasons: A. We have met the deductible for the year for our insurance, B. Taxes would be nice C. I was off.

Nope. He said absolutely no way he can do that. A. They absolutely will not allow a C section before 39 weeks unless it’s health related. Apparently costing me 3,000 more dollars isn’t a health issue. I Jest.

B. The 31st and First are a holiday, so they won’t schedule anything on a holiday. (Ummmm, This doesn’t sit well with me. I have to fly people from point A to point B on holidays, but surgeons get the day off). With as much money as our health care system cost this seems ridiculous. I’m not trying to be offensive, so If I offended someone sorry, this is just how I feel.

C. The earliest they can schedule her C section is Jan 4, due to the above. Apparently the holiday extends til the 3rd. This is causing her to be super stressed out. Jan 4th is 4 days before her actual due date, she is super worried she will go into labor and have to have an emergency C section, I won’t get back home until the 3rd, so if this does happen before then I won’t be able to help.

I’m trying to stay passive in this. I mean there is nothing we can do, but my wife is really upset over the situation.
There's a backlog of babies due to the Christmas break that they need catch up on before new year, and they probably pull whoever is most likely to need one over the new year break forward. I wouldn't want to be having anything done on the busiest day of the year for a surgery. And I wouldn't want anything done on a public holiday.

Is this Bambaby #1? They're usually a week late so don't sweat it.

I believe this is Bambaby #2. He's already teaching #1 how to unleash mighty sprints and flex massive guads.

Luckily for me I have a wife that gets it. With that being said, my mileage is going to drop dramatically, which I hope I am as mentally prepared for as I think I am.

If only I could convince the wife to let me put Simon in a back pack and go ride…….

When Thing Two arrived my free time dropped significantly so I had to get somewhat organised with my training. Never been faster.

Priorities definitely change as they get older though.

This was the main reason I bought a smart trainer last year, I knew we were going to try and have another one, and my time would be limited. The days of just getting on the bike and going to go will be over, rides will have to be planned and have a goal each time. Short but meaningful as my coach says. It’s going to be interesting. I incision a lot of rides at like 1 or 2 in the morning. She did tell me I could start doing the afternoon group rides which will be awesome. I always miss those now.

50 degrees this morning! I’m so happy I don’t even know what to wear. Naturally I’ll over dress and regret it 30 mins into my ride.

Your call, but gillet and arm/leg warmers allow you flexibility to shed some cover if you are concerned.

I finally called Honda yesterday, to get a quote on brake shoes. $250, more-or-less for a complete set. This is nuts! I can get a full set of Wagner for around $65. This is the route I'm going to go. Objections?

It was a cold 50. Wore a thin base layer, thermal long sleeve jersey, tights and toe covers, light gloves, and a hat. Had my rain jacket in my back pocket, but decided not to use it even when it started to rain.

Daughter started throwing up so I cut the ride short. We have all had a cold now for like 2 weeks we can’t seem to shake. Fevers randomly but not often, ****** cough, and super congested.

They will probably be fine. Sometimes aftermarket pads are noisy or may not wear as well as the oem. Wouldn't bother me to have a little noise and save 75%.
