more spokes in from than rear?

yo, native mountain biker just bought a cheap BMX to get my boys into riding at my local pump track. Quick question if anyone knows as im just curious, the bike i got (just a Haro F3) has more spokes in the front rim than the rear. just wondered if there was a reason for that?. assume its a mod the previous owner added and not standard? id have thought more in the rear to support more weight would be better, but im a noob in this world!

would appreciate any insight, cheers all!

For extra strength wheels used to come with extra spokes. (32, 36, and 48). It's not uncommon for a kid to ruin/taco a wheel and run down to the LBS and buy what ever replacement wheel they have lying around.

Definitely not stock. One of the wheels was replaced at some point in its life.
