Hello,

I am wondering why this thru-axle for a Saris Hammer trainer will not work. The individual parts seem to work on their own, but when screwing it on the trainer it gets stuck. I'm stumped. Can you please take a quick look let me know what I am doing wrong?

Welcome to the forum. Apparently the threads in the trainer/adapter are off center and the tolerances are too tight. I think this is a question for the trainer customer service.

I'm not sure this can be diagnosed remotely. If I were desperate, I might carefully file something, but I'd have to get no help from the company first.

Video is useful, but one more attempt is missing from the video: 1. Place adapter on to axle. 2. Put axle thru trainer and screw in adapter.
I assume he tried this but would like to see the result. Possible tight tolerances making this difficult?

I suppose it would be interesting, but it's not really possible while mounting a bike.

I would say something that is supposed to be concentric isn't concentric and the manufacturer needs to make good on it.

Yes-- I meant without the bike. It would confirm cross-threading of the adapter... and easily single it out as defective.

His video shows him threading it in. I don't think it would go in so easily if it's cross threaded.

Sorry - Cross-threaded is not the proper term. Obviously the threads are cut wrong so not as to allow the axle through the bore. But this quick test would prove that.

unterhausen it looks like you and I are the only ones concerned, anyway. The OP drops a video and then disappears, LOL.
I would think a quick call to the manufacturer for a new TA adapter would be all he needs.

The first time I mounted my through axel to the Kicker I had the chain on the smallest cog. It was very fussy but got it. The next time I was lazy and had the chain on the second smallest cog and spent 15 fruitless minutes trying to thread the axel though. I PMd Wahoo support and they replied - be sure the chain is in the smallest cog. So I moved the chain down and after a bit of alignment using a flashlight, boom, got it.

I also have a traditional skewer bike, and mounting that is a total no-brainer. Nothing to it.
