I'm 66 and I ride a magic gear 1981 Trek 750 Pro Race. 49-17, which is about 76 inches. My normal route I ride is 18.2 miles, selected for minimal hills, but has a few big ones. Last year on a good day, I rode the route in a smidge over an hour, including a couple of miles of warmup. I suspect once I get tuned up this year, with a warmup before starting, I'll be able to ride average 18 MPH on it for an hour. Spring conditioning is already good with over 80 days of ice skating this winter. I get a bit addicted to riding fixed, and only ride geared when route or winds require it.

I am really enjoying my fixed gear rides.
it’s been a while and riding a bike that coasts now is just really odd and takes a bit to get used to.

I'm usually running the freewheel. I like the fixed cog but my main issue the toe overlap. I have a habit of staying clipped in at redlights/stopsigns and such and slowly turning in circles until I take off again. I almost went down a few times when my toe hit the tire. I also like to bunnyhop over speedbumps and stuff and can't do that fixed. I need to work on how to properly do a trackstand.

This is my third fixed gear bike, and the only one that wasn't a conversion. It came with a flip flop hub and a single speed but I had the shop put on a FG cog and I have literally never used the single speed side since I bought it 7 years ago... until today.
I'm using this bike for rehab and PT following knee surgery; normally it's my commuter and urban bike. I could pedal the FG OK, but it was a little awkward stopping and planting my foot down, and the bumps jolted me a little too much, and toe clips were too scary. So now I have this urban bike with 35mm tires for comfort, flat pedals instead of toe clips, and a single speed freewheel which is kind of a new experience.

I happen to know a guy that rode one to work every day. Long story short. It is now mine. I don't ride it as often as I think of it. I geared it to support a commuter ride of 20MPH at 90 rpm. Worked out well and did not change my commute time at all. Like to ride it on American holidays

I threw out the fasteners for the steering wheel and fasten the baskets to the trunk with ordinary nylon ropes tied with a bow at three points.
Two dots at the top, one at the bottom.
The connection is strong, reliable and quick-release.
The baskets are metal, the products inside do not crumple, as in the side leather bags.
On Russian sites, there are baskets even for $ 2.5, very cheap:
The plane of the top of the baskets is at the same level with the platform of the trunk.You can easily install any lining strips or fiberboard plates and put anything on top: bags, backpacks, baskets, and so on.

I have.
On flat ground for short distances only.
I rescued a schwinn baby trailer, and took my blind dog for a ride down some dirt roads and canal paths.
26” tires, 39 x 20, no problem.
I am going to rebuild the thing, put new tires on it, and try it at 39 x 16, but Florida is FLAT.
