Riding with BF C&V
Watching ldmataya and Chrome Molly carve up carbon riders at the Dairyland Dare.
Moving past pace lines with steelbikeguy , he on a fendered bike, at Hilly Hundred.
Watching Doc descend Thunder Ridge (rccardr ).
Moving as quickly and smoothly I as could, through rolling twisties at Hilly, only to pause and hear nomadmax in my ear, “that was fun.”
He was 8” off my wheel, and I was totally unaware.
Watching rccardr ”Doc Cannondale” fix a star-struck rider’s Cannondale.
Watching speedevil power through rain, wind, hills and cold at Hilly on a day when no one should have out there.
Watching rhm fix flats four times on one ride. Same tire.
iab riding the Dairyland Dare on a 2-speed 1933 Frejus.
Yours?

Whooshiong past a group of younger riders on carbon wonderbikes at Thunder Ridge in 2016 with you and seypat on our Ironman bikes.
They were flummoxed.
We were joyful.

I ran into rccardr one year at the Tour of Richmond. We were in the middle of Nowhere, Va and it was windy. He has this pedal/coast routine, and he has it down to a science. He's like a machine(the Terminator) and just grinds it out. That image stays in my mind. That, and the shiny hubs on the bike he was riding. Whenever I encounter those difficult, desolate stretches that come up on all rides, I pull up that image of Doc grinding it out. I try to do something similar and it gets me through those stretches and down the road.
I did this run/bike duathlon with Robbie a few years ago where more than a few local legends honed their skills and battled for the crown. It would be a tri if you included the taco eating afterwards as the final leg. As I recall, Robbie hadn't ran in a couple of years. No prep for the run portion at all. The starting gun goes off and he quickly leaves me in a cloud of dust and disappears with the pack of contenders over this hill. It was like the roadrunner and the coyote. He dusted me on the bike leg as well. At least the tacos were good. Some people have the talent,(like Robbie) and some people don't.(me)

Or, how about. Up at dawn , a chilly 38 degrees as we head for the back country known as Wine Country Central California. The tires beneath us slipping as we try to muscle up the steep gravel road leading to our stop at Olea farm for some of those French fries and olive iced tea . Bikingshearer blasting by me on the downhills touting” gravity is my friend “! This is Eroica California. Oh how I miss the event, the comradery , the gathering of all bikes vintage.

How about this? The day before Eroica CA 2016 with Matt and Joe. Great people. Pretty scenery. Fun ride. Serious C&V porn to stare at and great owners of said bike porn to talk with at the end of the ride. It doesn't get a whole lot better than that.

a shot from Mr. iab's "spring" bike ride in 2019. Nature wasn't really cooperating....
attended by Robbie, Mr. Witlatch, Skip, and many others. I'm pretty sure the fish tacos were still very good.
Steve in Peoria (there was no snow in Peoria that day!)

As an 'old timer' i should have an older photo.
Here's a ride organized on this Forum. Not sure if all are/were members?
Somebody else have to give me the year.
Cloudy, misty day to ride. PacMoistWest's liquidy kinda sunshine.
More recent - worthy to note this was an Assault on Hurricane Ridge, Olympic Peninsula. Sea level to the Sky I stayed behind and made the post ride meal. A man's gotta know his.....strengths.
And finally, Drillium Dude has taken so many pics of me rollin along......
I'd should return the favor.- this one shows how clean he keeps his bikes - check out that front wheel!
ooops - Have to show this one -
No explanation offered....
