Schwinn touch up paint still available !
I'm amazed I found Sky Blue touch up paint available for my 64 Supersport. Did a search and found it online at Koolestuff.com. $26.50 total price. I have a few little places thay need touched up. I feel like I'm bringing the old bike back to life, new Brooks seat, new pasela tires and now a little touch up.

I recently bought a Sky Blue 1965 SS like the one my dad gave me years ago. The paint was beyond repair and I'm a professional bicycle frame painter so I am in the process of repainting it. Before I sandblasted the frame, I could see the silver base coat in areas where the blue paint had rubbed off. In this case I'm going to use a House of Kolor Shimrin "True Blue" paint with a code number of PCB36. This type of paint has to be cleared over. because it has no durability on its own.
Also the kind of sliver base coat effects the look too. Usually this is related to the size of silver flakes. The Schwinn candy colors used in the 60's and early 70's has a very fine grain.

Just a word of caution. The kind of paint on our 60's Super Sports is in reality a kind of "candy" paint that is somewhat transparent and is sprayed over a silver base coat. It won't look right if you just paint it in chips without putting silver down first. The more layers of blue put on, the darker the blue gets.
