Campagnolo C record correct chain

Hi

I have a Basso Loto with Campy FD and RD

I replaced rear cassette with same.

As well as the crank with nos chainrings

The chain runs against the FD ever so slightly when in certain gears.

I am using a Sram 830 chain.

Owner of bike shop, who is really good, says it needs spacers in between the chainrings.

I don't know how this would help as it will make it wider.....

Do I need to use a Campagnolo chain?

Or is there a " skinny/ thinner" chain that would resolve the issue?

Appreciate any and all help

Why don't you just adjust the derailleur? What am I missing here?

Front and rear derailleur have been adjusted.

I guess my real question is a Campagnolo chain..or another brand thinner width wise than the Sram?

Are you asking why your chain is rubbing in the small-small combo? It is not a chain or chainring spacer issue. It looks like user error to be honest. Don’t use extreme cross chaining combos. Also, if I’m seeing it correctly the chain is rubbing on the outer plate, so trim your derailer when you’re in that combo.

Also, do some reading. Google. Then ask a question.

Ok

Will do. Really appreciate the help.

One more question..

Is a Campagnolo chain thinner? Width wise vs. A Sram?

I believe the bike shop said it was slightly rubbing on the chainrings....that's why spacers were recommended.

I'll do a little more research.

Thank you again for the help

chains are sized by speeds in the back. 5-8, 9, 10… you can usually go with what you have or one speed up for a slightly thinner chain. That looks like an 8 speed Athena crank, but I can’t see how many cogs you have in back.

For a C-Record crank and an 8 speed cassette I've used a KMC 8 speed chain. With a 9 speed cassette, I've used a KMC 9 speed chain. I had no issues with both combos. With cross-chaining, small and small, both set-ups caused the chain to rub the big plate.

Thanks again for all the responses.

And gearbasher... quick question. I googled KMC 8 speed and there are a few X8, X 8.9 etc...Then there is Z 8

Which one should I get ?

I haven't ridden an 8 speed in years. KMC keeps changing the models of their chains. So, I can't really say. Sorry.

Let me add, I did try the C-record crank with a 10 speed cassette and chain. That combo did not work too well. Sometimes when shifting from the large to small chainring, the inner plates of the chain would land on top of the small rings teeth and it would just slip.

Campagnolo record 8/9 speed is 6.8 mm wide.

I wonder what KMC and Sram widths are ????

I'll do some research .

Thanks again for all the help
