PAS Odd

I have a bike with a KD58C controller, it starts-up and functions fine, problem is, the PAS is limiting the throttle not the pedals (cadence sensor), It's always full on pedal assist no matter what level 1-3 is selected. I'm thinking they plugged the PAS sensor into the throttle slot of the controller? Any ideas?

Thanks

I haven't had a bike with a throttle for awhile, but AIR with BBS02 & a hub motor, both seemed to have max power when the throttle was activated no matter the PAS level.

My system has settings in the display menu to reduce the output for each level of assist and also to set it to use those settings for the throttle or keep it 100%.

Unfortunately my Qualisports Dolphin always tries to max out the speed when I pedal, but it's differing degrees of power/torque. I have a lower end 350w/36v system, so it's not as refined as some of the others here.

Thanks for the replies, this one is strange, I've set all the PAS settings and saved them. I've even changed the speed to 40 KPH, and it always shuts down about 14.5MPH. The 3 pedal assist speeds or %'s work on the throttle, but the PAS for pedaling always goes to that max of 14.5 MPH no matter what level is selected on the display. I have heard they limit bikes in Europe to 15 MPH or so. All the manuals on the bike state up to 20 MPH. It's a little 36 V 350 watt mountain bike.

With a lot of considerations, frequently 36V, 350w systems for US consumption have 15 amp controllers which should provide 20 mph (flat terrain, 170 pound rider, no wind etc). Surprised yours cuts out @ 14.5 mph. What brand is the kit and is the battery adequate?

This is a factory off-the shelf e-bike, I sent it back to the dealer.I hope they can get it sorted or replace it, it's a stout little bike that climbed hills great. I have read a few places that some UK bikes have been restricted in the firmware of the controllers and act like this, I hope that's not the case with this one.

Does your bike conform to this video, which says you can have more PAS levels, and even set the max motor power in each level?

Thank you, I watched that video on the controller as well. I noticed if I go below about 30% in any of the levels, my throttle is actually disabled. The other quirk on mine is the soft-start is missing from the menu. No matter what assist level, the power cuts at 14. 2 MPH. Do you know if there are UK limited type versions being sold in the US?
