Several years ago I retired a Brooks saddle because I didn't like the way it felt. Yesterday I dug it out and noticed the adjustment screw is cracked in two. Research shows this is not an unusual occurrence.
There are numerous fixes online. Most show replacing the stock bolt with an M8 bolt from the hardware store. Thought I'd check here first before going that route. It seems easy enough to do.
Any suggestions?

I would guess this one broke because I had it on a hard tail mountain bike that was seeing a lot of single track use.

You can contact Brooks and get the actual part they use if you don't want to use something from a hardware store. Either way it is fixable. You will have to actually contact Brooks for the part since they do not list it.

I found the correct Brooks bolt online somewhere, but couldn't wrestle the thing in. I ended up using a 5/16" bolt and nut, IIRC. After a few years, ran across the Brooks and decided to try one more time. This time it worked, maybe as the result of a few more years' stretching. You better believe I greased the new bolt up well!

Everybody specified an M8 bolt but it doesn't matter. 5/16ths would wok.
I'm gonna try and fix it with a bolt and ride it, then I'll contact Brooks about the factory part.
Seems simple enough, really.

It was an easy fix with an M8 socket head cap screw and a nut. I did have to cut the old one out with a Dremel tool. Probably could have got it out with wrenches but the Dremel was easier. Now the saddle is back in business.
