Components that work with any build

Title says it all. I got the idea reading another thread. The first one that comes to mind is a Suntour Mountech FD. Attractive, generic looking, easy to acquire and works. The same could be said for most any Suntour FD.

I was going to say the VxGT or Cyclone GT. Though the Vx can be made downright blingy.

Mavic Ma40s (not MTB) but gravel to road to touring.
Sugino AT crankset. Even looks good when left as double.

Another vote for Sugino cranks. I've even used a pair of Super Maxys on a BMX build.

Brooks B17 saddles.

Velox rim tape.

Kool Stop salmon brake pads.

MKS Sylvan pedals.

drawing a blank on anything else...

Down Tube shifters in friction mode.
Thumbies shifters, Suntour preferred

I have many and use them on anything from old Suntour, Shimano, up to modern 10 speed Campy derailleurs.
I build up bikes for the needy, homeless, and anyone who needs a bike. So I tend to cobble together lots of various parts and friction shifters make it much easier to piece things together.

Black saddles and black bar tape. Other colors may work on a given build, but black always works on any build.
Campagnolo Nuovo Record rear derailleur. There were and are better performing RDs out there, but the NR is perhaps the most iconic, coolest looking component ever sold.
Brooks Pro, Brooks B17, or San Marco Rolls saddle.
Campy 2-bolt seat post.
Phil Wood hubs, at least for any freewheel build (as opposed to a free hub build).

1st generation Chorus long-cage rear derailleur. It looks great and shifts fabulously across a wide range freewheel.

Black cloth handlebar tape. Friction DT shifters (for bikes with derailleurs). Koolstop? Two different brake block types. Velox rim tape? Not for either tubeless or totally tubed (tubular).

Zephal HPX pumps. King waterbottle cages.

Nitto 65 seatpost. A beautifully-finished single bolt post with serrated interface between the upper and lower cradles. Used to have some issues with the cradles slipping on my Campy SR posts, but not here. Plus, the post is longer (250mm) so should suit a variety of uses - and they can be had for as little as $50 brand new in box.

Set it and forget it - and this recommend is coming from an avowed Campyphile

Shimano 6207 front derailleurs. They work with…everything. Friction of course.

The universal component that works (both aesthetically and functionally) with any build is going to be a unicorn. There's always going to be some frame or other component with which it will not be compatible. For instance, the OP's Mountech front derailleur won't be compatible with frames having a front derailleur hanger or oversize seat tubes. The only thing mentioned so far that would be universal is handlebar tape, but is it really a component?
