My honey of 35 yrs joined me for the first time on a club ride. We took the new Lambo tandem and did 37.3 miles. The ride went well. We only had one small problem when we tried to do a u turn and the wheels went off into some deep sand and we went down. No harm, no foul. We were about 1/2 way.

See it here. https://ridewithgps.com/trips/1984

I really enjoy reading about everyone's rides. It's a snapshot of how we ride, and how each ride is different for us. That's one reason I love riding my bike: The same loop day after day is never boring. Each trip is new and fresh.

Today's ride: 27 miles into my 48 mile road race, I flatted. Until then I was having a great time, working with women I worked with at the last race 2 wks. ago, knowing when I could dial it up to my advantage, knowing the route so well. So the flat was frustrating. I think I could have placed well.

So it goes.

Today was another beautiful day in Vancouver. I decided to do two mountains in two days. Today was the harder one, and the total ride was 71K. The views in some of the areas I ride are absolutely amazing. Too bad I did not take my camera.

I set out for my ride at 7:00AM, so I was all alone going up the mountain, till some youngster passed me at halfway. As I neared the summit, a couple of skateboarders were flying on the way down. They are even crazier than us.

I met some cyclists at the bottom who were preparing to go up this mountain (Mt. Seymour in North Vancouver) they were doing both mountains (Cypress and Seymour) in the same ride. One of the riders was 62. That'a ride is a goal of mine, not sure if I can do it this year.

Wow, Bud, a rear end cramp. I've had a lot of cramps on centuries, but never a butt cheek cramp. Oh well, all one can do is suck it up and know the next century will be better.

On the first century that I did on my Aero, I had a 20+ mph average when I cramped in the groin so bad, that I had to barely limp in the last 15 miles. A group of elderly ladies passed me and decided that I was going to be their pet project for the day. They even stopped with me when I cramped so bad a few times that I had to get off the bike. If I'm 58 and I'm calling them elderly, you can see how embarrassing it was but I did make it in.

A brisk 20 mile "Hellbent for Breakfast" run along the canal this morning. Three Baccetta High Racers, one Volae High Racer and my Tour Easy. My fifth group ride this year...it's getting a little easier.

EDIT: Added 12 miles this afternoon along the Genesee River and around the beach on Lake Ontario.

In about an hour I'll be commuting to work...5 more miles...will total about 37 miles for the day with 32 of them being recreational and five miles of commuting.

40 miles and 3950' of climbing from town to Waterrock Knob and back. Both Neal and I were a bit tired after yesterday's ride but we managed a reasonable pace for 3 hours round trip. It's been a big climbing weekend at 12K' elevation gain.

31 miles today bringing my total for the month to 604 miles. Looking back, I never had a 600+ mile month ever. This is a personal best for me and with one day left for August, maybe I'll add few more miles tomorrow.

Did 27+ miles today, avg 14.6 mph which is very good for me, lots of rolling hills, but the weather was cool and very little wind for a change. Met my wife at a friends house then off to a beach bar for a nice lunch. Very enjoyable.........blueberry pie coming up.

1.5 hours of cyclo cross practice on a homemade .9 mile circuit in our back yard and forested area located behind our property. My best average speed for a 3 lap effort was 9.1 mph! We had 9 guys and one gal ride, followed with a campfire, hot dogs and beers.

Sunday, 54 miles and with tonights,Monday, ride will go over 700 miles for the month.
I am so hoping to get a monthly average of 18+ too. right now I am at 18.2 so I see no reason not to. The average will be an increase every month since I started riding. Might be the last too.

Hitting 60 consistently, now, and looking at a pair of 61 milers (out and back) to give me a regular century route to take on the weekends. Funny how 3 (or so) weeks can change how you look at things like this.

I'm still not OCD about the rides, but my wife is murmuring about the possibility of it, now--in the same breath she uses to tell me that I'm looking trimmer.

Funny, that.

Monday 8/31/09... Well I guess you could say I road today. They are repaving a 3 mile section of the Seminole Wekiva Trail so I spent about 3 & 1/2 hours trying to find detours around the construction. I am suprised that this is taking place with the economy in the condition that it is in. I only road 17.33 miles and most of it at 10 mph or slower. I had plans to get in another 25/30 this evening but low and behold we are blessed with the Florida liquid sunshine that is so popular this time of year. O-well there is always tomorrow. This is now my highest mileage month this year.
All is well in Slo Spoke Jim's' household.

17.33 (s)miles today
740.03 (s)miles this month
4,486.54 (s)miles this year
20 ride days this month

Monday, I rode 79 miles in the Cascade Mountains with 8200 ft of climbing. Beautiful day, temps in the low 80's at lower elevations, cooler at pass level.

yesterday, Monday, I did 34 miles after work and got my above 18 mile average for the month and over 700 miles for the month as well.( the ride average was 18.7) The temp was in the 70's and it was soooooo nice. Not sure where those low temps came from but it was soooo welcome!

Tuesday 9/01/09... Back to my normal 30 mile rides today they paved a little over a mile of the trail yesterday and should get about the same today and tomorrow if the weather holds out. Boy the new section is really smooth, gotta love it... Jeesh I sure hate riding the first few days of the month the numbers look so small.
All is well in Slo Spoke Jim's' household.

30.42 (s)miles today
30.42 (s)miles this month
4,516.96 (s)miles this year
1 ride days this month (Sept.)

No ride today or yesterday. The piano tech is at the house tuning the grand this afternoon and the kid has her lesson later. I have some intervals planned for tomorrow.

I had every intention of riding today BUT, I got a call from my Mom, who said I needed to get fitted for a "KILT"! Seems my Niece is having a wedding in mid-Sept. and it's a "Irish/Celtic" of Medevel style so I'll have to get my ride in tommorow!

yep 31 miles but a bit slower than Jets ride. Now that to me is impressive 21.4. He did however have 14 guys to help him along. I motored in with a 18.4 solo.
The weather here was beautiful as well.
Oh I had another young guy speed past in a car only to turn right and almost miss his turn, why can't they just get behind and then turn, what they might lose like 15 seconds? Tools
