Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Is the Super Pista a Super Pista?

I have the regular Pista, which I love. I put twenty miles on it everyday.( If it's really raining hard with heavy winds or if I am worn out , I'll ride my geared Giant Tough Road.)
I've (almost) never looked at another bike. I like the fact the Pista is steel and not aluminum, and I love the frame geometry and the way it zips along after I get my legs warmed up. You learn to manage your rides carefully-- too much zip today, no zip on another day and also I like to do hills. So if someone wants to race me, I just slow down and let them pass..I want to enjoy 365 days, not 3.65 minutes..
However, once in a while, I do see ads for the Super Pista. Does it live up to its name?Has anyone owned one and what's it like? I dont ride for speed, but I like to see my energy used efficiently..

If I were you I’d stick with the Pista. That’s assuming you’re not competing at the velodrome. I owned a chrome Pista and loved it. Sold it because it was a tad too big for me. If you want to improve your ride start with your wheels. An upgrade there will pay dividends. Velomine has good options at good prices. Check them out.

Your energy is being used plenty efficiently on your Pista -- plus you're getting a modicum of comfort from the steel tubes. On the track, the Super Pista is at its best; on urban tarmac it can be a real a paint shaker.

By the way I was just doing my daily Craigslist and OfferUp search for a Bianchi Super Pista and for the first time discovered there is also a Cinelli Super Pista, a different bike.
